Yeah, there's definitely placebo effect, comfort zone, and all that. I've had workouts without it that are better, and workouts where they were worse. That's why I try to keep in moderation so I don't get too dependent one way or the other.

Oh and I'm going to go ahead and shoot down my earlier post about 70% of one's body weight being attributable to legs. It's more like 20%-30%, from what I was able to find through a few minutes of Googling. Apparently Wii Fit (I don't own this game) says that it's 40%. I'm not sure exactly out of which orifice I pulled that 70% figure

I lost 30 Pounds in the last Year, I mean down from my previous Weight before my Pregnancy. I had my Baby almost a Year ago.

What I did was a lot of cardio, and ate no Crap food for a while. Now I'm back to stripping, and nobody can tell I ever had a Baby. I drink plenty of Ooh Long Tea, and take Apple Cider Vinegar Pills and Garlic Supplement Pills

If anybody wants to take part in a 12-week transformation plan.. this guy (Kris Gethin) has a video for every day for 12 weeks walking you through diet, exercises, and other stuff you always wanted to know about but were too shy to ask.

http://www.bodybuilding.com/fun/12_w...ainer_main.htm

I'm on day three. Started Monday. He has his own progress pics on his "BodySpace" and he's totally ripped. Today I'm working on back, biceps, and calves. I'm still really sore from doing the chest/triceps/abs on Monday.

Working out has to be a habit for you. In order to take a new habit like working out/losing weight seriously you have to get rid of your old habits. I hope that makes sense. Good luck and stay motivated.

This is true. It has to just be part of what you do every day, like breathing.

I can attest to this, because before I gained all my weight back I was a "gym rat". It's when you get to the point that the gym is your place of solitude.. or where you get in your "zone" so to speak.

Has anybody on here tried the P90X workout and eating plan? I got it a few months ago, and it's an ass kicker. It gives you variety, recipies for good eats, and best of all you can do it in the comfort of your own home. Has worked so far to get me into better shape. In honesty, now if I go for a few days without working out, which occasionally happens due to my work schedule, I start feeling bummed out, grumpy, and irritable. I've come to believe that working out is my personal prozac. Currently I'm 5'9" and around 190 lbs. I'd like to get down to 175-180.

I've been using P90X and just being careful what I eat. Started drinking more water/juice and less soda.

We'll see how it goes, I'm about 7 weeks in so far.

What kind? Like cranberry mixed with water? Lemon? I ask because fruit juice can be high in calories.. not good if you're trying to lose fat. But I don't know about this diet (heard about it, though). Is it a cutting or bulking diet?

Browsing around BodyBuilding.com for a few days already has me speaking the lingo.

Got stories to share? Share here.

Been hitting the gym for little over a month now (5 days a week) since I quit 6 months ago. Dropped 5 lbs. so far. My routine is usually 30 minutes of cardio followed by light resistance training and some basketball.. but it varies a lot as I usually change it up to keep me entertained. Eating right is the thing that gets me, I've cheated every weekend so far. Do'h!

I'm 6' and 245 lbs. Trying to get to 200-220 before Summer.

Do your resistance training BEFORE the cardio. What you should do is go walk for 5-10 minutes to get your heart rate up than go do your resistance training then your cardio and basketball.

The most i've ever weighed is 280 lbs (i'm 5'11) and i now weigh 168 (just weighed myself yesterday). My weight has apparently fluctuated like this most of my life . Just gotta stay away from trans/saturdated fats and keep my calories under 2200 a day and i'm good. I work out 6 days a week and i PUSH myself for about an hour and a half each workout (cept cardio days, those are usually only 30 minutes or so + stretch time of 15 minutes).

You need to win the battle with the food, that is the hardest part. Eat 5-6 200-400 calori meals per day and you'll see astronomical results

Good going man! I weighed myself earlier and it looked like a dropped a couple pounds too.. but I'm not very trusting of the scale. I need fat calipers or something.

I ate myself silly, eating everything in sight - ice cream, cake, pizza, etc. Gained the 50 lbs.. now that I'm eating clean again, I feel like it should literally fall off in a matter of weeks.. but I know that's not reality. The weight'll come off fast, just not THAT fast I reckon.

I also suggest taking pictures of yourself in your undies. Take another set 4 weeks later, and so on.

Alright, I'll try adding 5-10 mins of cardio before hitting the weights.

Nutrition is what makes this a bit intimidating, almost seems like you need a degree in the subject. I think this complexity is what leads people to the need for "cure-alls" or "miracle foods". They want it simple. At this point, I'm simply eating healthy alternatives. I've stopped soda (even diet), and anything called "junk food". I'm currently learning the 40/40/20 rule of dieting and hopefully I'll have a good understanding when I'm ready to break my first plateau.

On Day 5 of Kris's plan.. shoulders, legs, and abs.

Thinking about changing my supplement line. Currently I'm on..

Green Tea extract + hoodia - got these from Wal-Mart. I take two a day with meals. I'll run this bottle dry and that'll be it for these.
Men's 1 A Day multi - Good multivitamin but I feel there are better ones out there. I may go with Mega Man at the GNC.. but I'd also like to try Animal Pak.
Nutrex Lipo 6x - okay, but I feel like this fat burner isn't doing anything. I'll be trying Hydroxycut Hardcore soon.. hopefully better results from that.
B12 and Fish Oil - will continue with these unless I go with Animal Pak.

I"m at 212 6'2.. Beginning of the year I was 225

I'm still working on a trying to find a good routine. I want to lose fat but retain muscle, aka bet cut looking. Lose on the lower stomach, I have the upper four pack.. Plus lose facial fat as well, less on the cheeks and under chin. I think that just goes with over all body fat.

I go to Planet Granite (rock climbing with a full gym) so I do a decent amount of weight training (1 or so 2-4 times a week), a little cardio, mostly exercise bike but some treadmill. My left knee has to be cooperative for the treadmill. When it warms up I'll try to hit the pool, that helps a lot actually.

I did the same thing as you, i was ADDICTED to fast good. I stopped going to the gym and replaced it with mcdonalds, definently not a good trade off lol. I would literaly eat in one sitting 2 double cheesburgers, 2 mc chicken sandwhiches, and a medium fry (for only $5 at the time lol). I remeber looking up what the total calories/fat count was on the daily plate a few months ago and i almost cried because of what i was doing to my body. I literaly went from 150lb and CUT to 280 lbs and incredibly fat.

The only things i EVER take into consideration when i put them into my body are how much Trans fat/saturated fat/processed sugar/sodium each food has. If you stay away from things that are high in all of those (don't forget, poly and mono fats are good when not eaten in mass quantities) than you will be on your way to a good diet. The killer for me was getting rid of cheese and mayo in my diet , i love tuna + mayo but i replaced mayo with spicy/tangy/sweet mustards and its worked damn well so far .

Don't forget that for every 16oz glass of ice water you drink, you burn 17 calories It always feel good to know you're losing weight while drinking water

It is a great practice to eliminate mayo and substitute it with ANYTHING that will pacify you, so I've got some big-time agreement with you on that one. You mentioned mustard; that's what I use. I simply do not consume mayo anymore at all for any reason. If you like relish, I always add that to my tuna; so with various mustards and relish you've got a pretty tasty treat. I also say no to oil-canned tuna. While it is delicious, that's an easy way to add unnecessary calories and fat to one's daily intake.

So I kind of blew it this week as far as losing weight goes. Monday will be my 8th week, the end of two months of this. So far I'm loving it, I feel stronger.. thinner.. more healthy. Even though my body hasn't changed I feel 10x better about myself.

Waist has gone down a little bit.. not much though. Stuff that was tight as hell before are only a little tight now. Other than that clothes don't feel different. But I've done a lot of cheating. This week I cheated a lot. I also failed to record everything I ate this week.. although I've been putting 110% in the gym. I haven't slacked there at all. I actually gained 2 lbs this week I believe. I'm 246.
