Microsoft hasn't stopped patching 7, it's just blocking access. I expect there will be a lot of ESU hacks, this is the first I've seen https://www.notebookcheck.net/Still-....450385.0.html

Especially when 'Location' has to be on for quite a few apps to run 'properly' on a cell phone.

As for my own workstation/laptop privacy, I only set Windows 10 to grab error codes in the event of BSOD's, but that's it. I understand that Windows takes some minute data in the background, and has been doing so for decades.

You may be in for a bit of a shock when you run something like wireshark on your pc's and especially when you start up your browser

Windows 10 is fine. If you are super worried about security then you should be using a secure Linux distro with Tor browser over a logless VPN.
