Here are the new shelves I decided to go with. While I wish I had even more space, this should last me for awhile. I could always squeeze one more in if needed.

going to bookend them with a drawer/smaller bookcase in between. my main concern, besides wanting more space for blu-rays/dvd, is shelf sagging. my current main bookcase, which will be replaced, looks really cheap because of the shelves.

i read good things about prepac regarding that issue, so i hope they work out. apparently can fit about 200 blu-rays on each one, so those 2 coupled with my smaller bookcase should be good for now.

so here it is. definitely nothing special compared to a lot of stuff in this thread, but i'm satisfied and i feel it's much better than my previous setup. construction was easy and the shelves seem especially sturdy.
with the spacing right now, i actually have 4 extra shelves in total. i might use them later when space becomes limited again

Pricey but have been using cheap options for years. With some help from Mnuchin, it might be time to "man up":

(I have five times as many CDs as BDs and DVDs.)

Odd that they give so much attention in their product description verbiage to VHS.

Hello everyone. Need your help. Right now I have a bunch of Sauder media towers, which I like except the sagging shelves. But Iím ready to go much bigger with the shelving and lose the different Sauder towers. Never used IKEA for anything or Prepac. Pretty much have it narrowed down to Prepac Quad unit or IKEA Billy shelves.

How is Prepac? Ideally, Iíd want one big unit (or a few that become one) and Iím looking for what holds the most blus. The Quad has a nice design to it too, at the same time I like that is not super tall. The room Iíll be putting this in is 94Ē, so the units that are 93Ē should work while not leaving any room between top and ceiling.

Thanks for everyoneís help!

That is quite a collection. Curious if you thought about building something custom to fit the room?

I briefly thought about it.

It's an option, for sure. Not sure where I rank my craftsmanship.

I had something like this years ago in a one-bedroom condo. Fit snug in a corner, did the trick

Personally I like the prepac. It's what I use. I found the triple much cheaper than the quad considering the quad didn't add that much more room. I have triples for cds and 2 for bd.

Never found spinner saved a lot of space. They're shaped differently so may fit into certain spaces better, but they often take up more sq footage/disc than a typical wall unit

I also like that the depth and height aren't as wasteful as something like the Billy or other bookshelves.

The downside is the backing. They are open. Does anyone know if you can buy backing board anywhere? Preferably black?

I'm still trying to decide the direction I want to go but I saw a recent video game collection video and they had everything in cube storage and it looked really nice.

I house my entire collection in cubes-black in my case. If you take a look in my gallery you will see a lot of photos. I love the look but it does take a fair bit of work to set up.

I spilled 100 discs on the floor today so I picked up a few of these. Stackable with handles and magnetic door.
