Default 9.2 vs 11.2 Receiver Question

I currently have 11 speakers and Two-Subs(Atmos Set-up), however I have a Marantz SR6012(9.2 Channel) and a 2 Channel amp to achieve 11.2 Atmos. Am I losing sound quality with this set-up? Should I upgrade to a Marantz AV7704 which is true 11.2 channel?

The overhead channels for dolby atmos and DTS:X are not constantly active enough to justify buying a new 11.2 receiver because, you probably wouldn't be able to tell the difference with a build in 11.2 system, with the additional 2 channel amp that you currently have. If you have the 2 pairs of atmos speakers connected to the Marantz, if would sound exactly the same as a build in 11.2 receiver, and you're not losing any audio information. The only benefit of having a 11.2 receiver is that, you won't have to use a second amp vs one.

No, you're good.
The 6012 AVR has 9 amplified channels, but has 11 channel processing.
You adding the 2 channel amp brings you to 7.2.4 which is perfect!
Don't upgrade, not for that reason. The 7.2.4 you have is audio bliss.
