The price tag was $310. White Rabbit's service fee was $30 and shipping (DHL, they only gave me one option) was $80. (8lb package)

All in all - about $425.

A couple more came in today. These were a bit more expensive due to having to use DHL to get it here from Japan.

Anthem of the Heart is a double dip, which is unfortunate. I have the South Korean Blu-ray, but the subtitles have issues when there are multiple people talking--or talking and singing simultaneously--which obviously makes it really hard to enjoy. The Japanese release apparently doesn't have those issues. Its a shame because the South Korean release is so much nicer than this one outside of the sub issue.

Since I was already paying that hefty shipping fee, I figured I might as well bite the bullet on Akira, too! It's been many years since I last watched this, so I may not appreciate the upgrade as much, since I can't really remember how the Blu-ray looked, but I'm still looking forward to popping this in.

I hate to be THAT guy, but the Akira UHD looks worse than the 1080p BDs because Q-Tec...

I read through the thread when it first came out. I definitely saw that it was far from perfect, but is it just purely, categorically worse across the board?

Yeah. I see no increase in detail (some shots show less), not that much film grain, and a worse hypersonic mix (but I don't care about that, as the OG Dolby Surround track is on the UHD).

This is exactly why I hung onto my recent IVE Entertainment Akira Limited Edition BD. 99/100 times I won't care too much about image quality (you know me) but Akira is that ONE exception.

^^ wrt Akira 4K; I had forgotten the previous discussions about Q-Tec's involvement. I've elected to hold off on my order.
Like Collector fx mentioned, I too have the beautiful IVE Ent. 1-click (via Kimchi) so I'm pretty satisfied for now.

Well I'm glad I didn't get Akira 4K then if it doesn't offer an improvement over the BD.

Oof ó yeah, thatís a hard pass for me. I donít need a $400+ display piece thatís just going to go into a storage unit for 3-4 years anyway.

The Japanese Limited Edition is better than both.

Also have this one on pre-order but currently Amazon JP doesnít seem to ship to Europe when you try to order it. Iíll see what happens with Weathering With You, which I also ordered, next week.

The Japanese Limited Edition is better than both.

The Japanese LE is definitely really nice; it just takes up too much space haha.

What I really like about the KR release are all of the little details it has, while still being roughly the size of a single Blu-ray case. The inside cover art is particularly great.
