how do you like the 7502? have you had any issues with it with 4K playback? is it noisy during movie playback or is it quiet? I have the 7501 and I am happy with it.
Sorry I think I'm mixing up my acronyms. OTA is generally used for phones I think but yeah it was updated to support Dolby Vision. I've only had it a few weeks but I love it. No issues with 4k or Blu-ray playback and not at all noisy. My only minor complaint would be that the UI is slightly sluggish and outdated. That's only if I'm really reaching though, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it.

I got the update too. So i slip in one of the two DV discs I own and for some reason the output is in DV but at 1080p instead of 4K.

I figured it out. The HDMI cable was going to the wrong input on the TV.

Yay DV is here.

Anyone know if this supports the low latency DV currently used by Sony TV's?

considering I own the 7501 and I am nothing but happy with it, I think for my bedroom's TCL DV tv, I will get the 7502 now that it has DV capabilities.

what I find most interesting is that the Philips UHD player got it's DV update before the larger brand named Sony X700; I thought the Sony would have gotten theirs first.

I am happy to see folks happy with their Philips UHD players. when I get the 7502, my current 7501 will go to my 2 channel setup which has another TCL 4K tv but is HDR10 only.

i'll keep you guys posted.

One thing I noticed after updating my 7302 (Sam's Club cheaper version of the 7502) is that by default, Dolby Vision output is always on regardless of content - even a regular 1080p BD would switch my TV into DV mode on playback. Obviously this is not a good idea for SDR content as everything will look excessively bright and washed out. Thankfully, the menu setting for DV on the player lets you switch to an auto-detect mode instead of forcing DV output across the board.

Now this has the Dolby Vision update its now on my radar. Might Import it to the UK. Been wanting to upgrade my US Samsung blu-ray player and get 3D and this will allow me 4k Capabilities from it.

Can anyone who owns this model tell me if Dolby Vision can be turned off in the settings to force HDR 10? That's my only question before purchase and I can't seem to find a definitive response.

Yes. You just need to set it to "Auto" and not "SDR" or "Dolby Vision" and then it will play HDR10 or Dolby Vision depending on the source material.

This is good news that Dolby Vision HDR is no longer exclusive to OPPO Blu-ray players. I am glad Phillips received a Dolby Vision HDR update. I wonder if Philips will one day offer a HDR10+ and Philips HDR firmware update (Technicolor HDR).

OK, I guess my follow-up question is can you force HDR-10 with a Dolby Vision disc? My LG has a weird auto-contrast issue with some DV content. Apparently I'm not alone in this and LG is supposedly looking into it.

Actually, it is NOT exclusive to OPPO. LG has DV as well (though they've had some issues keeping it available for all).

I knew about the LG Dolby Vision HDR firmware update, however they pulled the firmware update twice because of problems. On a third attempt did the LG Dolby Vision HDR update finally stay on the server so everyone can download and use it?

Yes it is still there and its functional. I actually got a refurb LG UP970 on BB's website for cheap. I downloaded the firmware and have been watching DV titles without any issues

How does the LG compare to this Phillips in terms of picture quality and up scaling? Does the Philips handle Dolby Vision better than the LG?

Ordered, cancelled and then ordered again

Went with the Sams Club model#, $175 total.

After reading this thread (thanks everyone both positive & negative for your inputs) and the AVS thread, I decided to give it a go especially after the dv update. I'll be dv ready tomorrow hopefully

Not to get off track, but LG has a current FW with DV. It is not the most recent (220) which was pulled, but the one prior (207) which includes DV. Available to all, if they 'update' via the player (not available on website). So it looks like three players may now have a solid DV firmware.

I don't think there's a way to get it to ignore the DV layer if it sees the metadata flag on the disc. You would have to play it on a non-DV enabled 4K HDR player.

From the look of the above picture I'm wondering if you can uncheck that DV box and it will just go HDR, or if that box is autochecked when connected to a compatible TV.
