Default The Guyver

Didn't see an official thread for any version of this film so I figured it was safe to make this.

I would like to own this on bluray but here is the dilemma. I know of two versions of this film. My original VHS copy featured a scene where the Guyver rushes up to a zoanoid, snaps his neck, rips off an arm and then throws it aside. When I later bought this on DVD in what is called the director's cut this scene is missing. I can't remember if there are any other differences or not.

Now the Arrow release clocks in at 92 minutes while a German release from VZ HANDELS GMBH has a runtime of 93 minutes. Now I don't know if that means that the German release has all the footage or not since it is listed as a director's cut, which is what my DVD said that doesn't have the footage even though its runtime is 92 minutes.

Is there anyone out there who owns either that can clarify this for me? To confirm or deny which version is which?

Thanks.

I believe this is the best version to get but don't quote me on that as I don't own it yet.

Go for the German version. It’s fully uncut. I believe “director’s cut” from the DVD missed the gore from the VHS, but added story bits cut from the theatrical release. The German version has the gore and the story parts.

Thank you both for the info and the links. Looks like I'm going to be picking up the German release.

On here it lists the German as having 3 cuts. Are they all in HD?

Kinda random that the older '80s Guyver anime OVA is out of print (that I know of).
The Guyver Out of Control movie/OVA was never released on DVD in the USA (again that I know of).
That one featured a female Guyver 2, and let's just say the Guyver goes into somewhere interesting...

BTW it's really odd that even the more recent Guyver anime (2005) only covers maybe half of the story.
Of course given that apparently more recent Guyver manga stuff heavily borrows from Ultraman, I can see it would be hard to adapt.

People complain about Berserk & Hunter x Hunter taking forever to finish, but this has been going since the '80s and I don't think I have heard about it ending anytime soon...

Finally got this in the mail. The video quality is amazing! And it has a much brighter picture than either of the VHS and DVD releases. Had no idea it could even look this way. I just assumed the darker picture the older releases had was just normal for the film. Do all the blurays released by this company as part of the cult classic collection look this way? Or does it depend on the film?

Given the choice between the Arrow release and the German release, which is preferable?
