I have not. I'm usually a physical consumer. Please elaborate.

I assumed it would become UV on release date and automatically share to my locker.

I did this with MGO long time ago. I preordered a movie with credit when it was not UV. With Vudu, it was never a problem. MGO didn't/couldn't refresh the purchases/my library (something like that) so even though it became UV, it never ported because I didn't buy it from them when it was UV. Also...because I bought it with credit, they couldn't "refund" it and let me buy it again. They said they couldn't refund a credit. It was ridiculous.

Not sure if things are similar with Fandango or not. Vudu does not work this way. Doesn't matter when you buy it, if it becomes UV, you get it.

We need Kidkash to confirm.

If it's going to be like that I will cancel both pre-orders

The thing about Amazon is they have a strong presence in many countries. Considering DMA is only available in the U.S, they risk pissing a lot of people off if you guys are the only ones to have a digital locker for your content. (We dont include UV as a useful storefront or locker outside the U.S anyway) As I understand it, DMA would have to be available almost globally otherwise this is going to be messy.

Isn't Spider-Man Homecoming part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and will therefore be DMA rather than UV? Until FandangoNow becomes part of DMA, like Vudu, I'm afraid your purchase will only be available in FandangoNow and not be put into your UV locker or DMA locker.

No, it's Sony I think and will be UV.

While Homecoming is part of the MCU, it's distributed by Sony. So it should be UV like The Incredible Hulk.

I have purchased a few movies this year that were not uv when I bought them and figured they would be by release date. They never transferred over I contacted FandangoNow about it a ton, I ended up buying the codes on here because I used credits and they couldn't refund. It's not worth the hassle no one knows what your talking about trust me cancel and wait till it's says uv before buying.

I think the MoviesAnywhere service will end up being a replacement for UV. The studios will not want to put codes for two different services in with the physical media. There will be one redemption site, and current UV codes will be able to be redeemed there. They will begin to phase out UV after a significant number of people have switched.

Hopefully that's the case and would make the most sense but who knows. The studios don't exactly have a stellar track records with common sense when it comes to these things.

I don't care what locker my movies are in or what the name is. As long as I have access to all my movies (current and future) and can play them on just about any device in HD/UHD quality with surround sound, I am happy.

I don't want to loose movies/shows and I want to have options on how to watch those titles....which is the basic idea behind having a digital locker...

I agree. My concern with "Movies Anywhere" is who's controlling that? Is it Disney? That would worry me if we are putting Disney in charge...not very consumer friendly. What happens to D2D, mobile D2D, Family Sharing, instawatch?...Disney has never allowed those things and their pricing is just bad. Would my Vudu library be available in itunes....or vice versa? Just thinking out loud here. As long as I can keep everything in Vudu I'm good, but a universal system would be best in general, which is why they formed UV of course...

I have those same concerns, and while they are worrisome, especially for those that utilize features that could be lost, I am going to try not to dwell on anything until it comes to fruition. I am sure it won't be easy, as I am happy with my collection and how UV works, and would be disappointed if I were to lose features, or worst of all, have two disjointed lockers.

I can work out some things, but if MA is the new UV, I would at minimum want all my titles to transfer to MA.

This is essentially what myuv.com is. I have redeemed 99% of my UV movies there. Very rarely I've had to go somewhere else (Starz) to redeem UV.

Disney is a tiny studio with a small library compared to most studio's. Not sure why they would give them the reigns. I hope not at least.

I think ideally, a new locker system would simply bring the other major providers (iTunes, Amazon, possibly Google) into a system with Vudu, which is the only real serious UV storefront. Sure, There's Fandango Now or whatever, but do people really use that to view their movies? From what I've seen, they might buy a few there with sales or credits, but only so they can watch it in Vudu. Most people want all their digital titles in one place. Right now the only way to easily do that is with Vudu. It's the only one that supports UV, DMA, and D2D. Hopefully, Movies Anywhere changes that and you can port your library to any of the main provider/storefronts like you theoretically can with UV (even though serious UV collectors only care about Vudu).

What I really want to know is, when are more details going to leak!?

Another concern is Disney may try to block certain movies from standing in their digital locker. Think horror films or 18 certificate films. Maybe even controversial movies featuring religion, race issues etc.

Yeah....I hope one company doesn't have all the power here. Which was a good thing with UV, it was created and made up by numerous. Nothing to do at this point thought except to wait and see what happened. Then....well...we will see.
