I’m definitely in for this since I never played the original.

This could be cool. I thought the first one showed a concept with a lot of potential that didn't get realized at first. I'll see if this one adds enough elements to get my attention. I'd love multiple playable characters; and not just Amiibo-locked, 8-Bit only skins: I'm talking full on.

Stoked for this as I really liked playing levels in the first. I'll grab it a few months after launch when there's a bunch of great levels to play through as I don't care about making levels myself.

I should have specified that it what I will probably do too as I want it to play not to create.

Glad they added 3D world to this one. Hopefully there’s a couple more styles yet to be revealed.

Did you notice you can put water in the land levels? In the original you had to choose either water or land, now you can have both.

It was only a matter of time, but Nintendo has officially announced when Super Mario Maker 2 will release. Nintendo has tweeted that the game will release on the Nintendo Switch on June 28th, which is about 2 months away from now, and 15 days after E3 2019 ends.

Well, this looks glorious. I was pretty much done with my Wii U when the first game came out, so I'm really looking forward to diving into this one. Looks like the replay value on it will be extremely high.

I may go ahead and get the $70 version that includes a year add on for online, as that's 50% a year subscription. Pretty nice perk, honestly, when I was gonna buy the game at $60 and spend another $20 for the online renewal in the Fall.

One more thing - this has to mean there will be a future downloadable style that can't conform to the 4 "exchangeable" styles (like SM3DW), right? Otherwise why the blatant open space.

Here's hoping for SMB2 style in the future!

How cool would a polygon-like theme based on Super Mario 64 be?

Pretty good info dump in that Direct, lots of new features. The "story mode" is wild, never saw that coming. Also good to see the online component is polished up, though no searching for levels by name is disappointing.

Only things I hope are in that we're announced are the return of amiibo costumes and local multiplayer.

I don't think we'll get local multiplayer (aside from the multiple Switch consoles mode) because they look to have designed the multiplayer to need different screen perspectives for each player. Which makes sense, as one of the frustrating things about multiplayer in NSMBU was all players being restricted to one screen. Since levels are being designed with an online community in mind you can't expect them to accomodate both multiple screen and single local screen approaches, so multiple screen only is the logical choice.

I fully expect costumes to return.

Looks absolutely packed with content! I was looking forward to it, but now I’m absolutely hyped for it!

Yoshi’s Island would be amazing as an extra game style! Though perhaps it wouldn’t work well in the grid format of the stage builder. SMB2/USA seems like it’d be a pretty likely choice.

It looks absolutely incredible! For me, the inclusion of 3D World assets puts it over the top! I was probably going to get it anyway but that completely sealed the deal! Also did anyone else notice there was room on the menu screen for more worlds to be added later? Some speculated maybe Mario 64 assets or possibly Gameboy! Then theres Odyssey, Galaxy, and Sunshine! Ahhhhhh my mind melts thinking of the possibilities!

I kept hoping there would be a discounted play-only version, I don't have any desire to create SMB levels and never finished making a single level on the old version. It's fun playing other creators levels though so story mode is definitely for players like me. Seeing all the 3D World stuff makes me want to replay that more than anything!
Anyway, looks awesome but I think I'll wait for a discount.
