It's weird to have to download an app just to be able to watch one movie. I mean, it's on VUDU. Shout Factory couldn't include a VUDU key? I gotta download what looks to be a yoga app called VHX? They really want people to be signed up for their newsletter, don't they?

It's so cheap, and has excellent reviews. I think I'll go pick up a copy tomorrow. I looked at a screenshot, and immediately thought of Setsuko from Grave of the Fireflies, which is one of my favorite anime.

Here's the thing about Shout Factory digital codes. If you redeem your code on Shout Factory you can download DRM-Free video (in .mp4 format) in a variety of resolution options for your personal use. In the player of your choice. IMO, this makes these digital redemptions far more preferable to being locked on VUDU or Movies Anywhere. IMO |

![]() Bought this and Your Name at Wal-Mart about 3 weeks ago, and I finally watched it yesterday. It was pretty good, especially for the price I paid. ( it was almost $10 less than Your Name was.) However, I do kind of agree with DVDtalk's review. [Show spoiler] The Blu-ray also comes with a 16-page preview of the manga it was based on. ![]() Last edited by gwfb5; 12-08-2017 at 06:52 AM. |

I watched this last night and thought it was excellent.
It's a slice of life film that's like a mashup of a coming-of-age story and Grave of the Fireflies. The animation is beautiful. The characters are interesting. The film covers a large timespan and does so as briskly as it can. Some may feel the film is slow but that's because there is a lot of character development, attention to detail, and world-building. By the time things hit the fan, so to speak, I felt very invested in the characters and what they were experiencing. This film is thought-provoking and will hit you with all the feelings. Have tissues ready and even better if you have somebody else to watch with you so you can discuss the film afterward. Highly recommended for anyone interested in animation, history, war, or a good story. |

Is there any news on a home release containing the extended version of this film? I enjoyed it the first time and would like to rewatch with the new scenes. It doesn't show up on Amazon Japan, so I thought I'd ask here.
