Standard release is fine with me. My shelf is getting full so the smaller the better.... cheaper too. Happy I skipped out on the Korean set. The dub should be in higher quality too with this being an English set.

Nice that those who held off can now get this show at a good price. I fall into the category of the "too impatient to wait for a domestic release," so I won't complain that I spent a small fortune on the Korean sets. They are gorgeous sets, so the only punishment for my impatience is on my wallet

Aside from the typos, I never had any issues following the subs on the Korean sets for those that are worried about their quality.

I just have the Manga UK DVDs so I'm definitely ready to upgrade them to Blu-ray. Glad I waited.

Hopefully we won't have to wait long to pre-order.

I'm ecstatic that there's going to be a US release for the series on blu-ray. Looks like it's going to be released on the same day as the blu-ray for Innocence.

EDIT: Whoops, I'm a couple weeks off. Innocence is on the 7th, while SAC is on the 21st.

Sorry, I didn't mean to imply anything like that with my post. You're 100% right, there seemed to be some confusion about the usage of capital I's from whoever transcribed the subs. Just wanted ease any doubts people might have had in regards to the quality of the subtitles in the Korean set.

I think it is great either way. I got to finally see them in HD 18 months ago, so I've got no regrets.

I don't think anyone has been critical of you and others for paying for early purchases. Hell, if I hadn't missed out on both Korean and the Japanese set, I too would have paid and bought those also. We as anime fans know that sometimes for the things you love you have to import sometimes years before a domestic American release.

Not sure how I feel about it taking a live-action movie being made for us to finally get SAC on Blu and a re-release of Innocence. Something about that just feels wrong. This should have happened ages ago. Glad it's finally happening though!

Not really. It's how it works. Mainstream interest in GITS for many years has been close to zero. It only makes sense that the live film with tremendous buzz will provide a momentum for more releases since everyone will be interested in GITS again, both new fans and old. I have managed to hold on, so I will be getting these new releases and am glad it's finally happening. Is it a shame it took so long? Yes. But am I surprised it took so long? No.

I mean I'll either see or buy the live version. I just don't know if it'll pull in the people that they think it will.

Nevermind. From Rightstuff's listing this is SAC and 2nd Gig, not SAC split up into 2 sets, correct?

2nd Gig is season 2 of Stand Alone Complex.

I hope they at least change the logo, the one they used for the DVD release was awful. And I wonder how the curse of GitS will manifest itself this time.

Anyway they had 7 years to announce this and now it's too late for me so I'll pass.

If they do 24p they're going to have to mess up the intro for at least season 1 since it was animated at 30p.
