Personally try and keep it wired so use powerline adapters in the past or now a long ethernet cable. However i've been using a mobile sim data and as horrible as it is kinda does the job for now.

The shit download speeds are all server side to be honest. I get slow as hell speeds on PS but Xbox has insane download speeds on the same connection. I've never had more the 30meg down on PS4 but the Xbox I've had 60+

Yeah and another reason the PS+ price increases are BS considering we now don't get PS3 or Vita games and the quality most months is dire. They just pulling our pants down for profit. I hope they sort it the hell out for PS5 considering they are trying to tout all these next gen hardware benefits and then have a crappy online infrastructure still in place.

I am kinda invested into the eco system of PlayStation but if they continue ripping me off, there will come a point i just cba using them. Right now i probably play ZERO games online that require it and barely touched many of the games over the years until recently.

Itís a very small percentage but people who have issues with the consoles overheated is likely due to cheap thermal paste. I only know a few people who had to fix their PS4ís by applying better thermal paste to the APU.

Iíve never had that issue thankfully.

If Sony can get stress workloads to only heat the APU on PS5 to 70 degrees, that would make it much better in terms of fan speed noise. Better fan & better vents would also help.

After seeing the X, & knowing it can be place vertically or horizontally with no issue tells me they have a stable form factor but we donít know the ambient noise of the thing.

Liquid Cooled and Vapour Chamber cooling are different things, just to clarify.

The Xbox One X Is (Not) 'Liquid Cooled'

Quote:
The Xbox One X is not liquid cooled in a traditional sense. When you think of something as being "liquid cooled," the average person pictures an all-in-one cooler or an enthusiast water cooling loop with a water block, radiator, and pump. This form of cooling is the preferred method of heat removal for highly overclocked processors and GPUs that generate enormous amounts of heat. Thatís not whatís being used in the Xbox One X.

Simply put, there is nothing "new" about vapor chamber coolers at all. The fact is, this type of cooler has been used for more than a decade to cool blade servers and high-end graphics cards and, even though a vapor chamber cooler does contain a small amount of fluid, it is still more of a heatsink than a water cooling system. Today, the most common use of vapor chamber technology is found in the heatpipes of your CPU / GPU heatsink. They are inexpensive, easy to form into various shapes, and provide superior thermal performance compared to traditional solid metal heat spreaders.

I wish that Sony would make the design of the PS5 thermal paste replacement-friendly. Kind of how they design of the PS4 Pro allows one to clean the fan without voiding the warranty by taking the top of the console off, I wish that the design of the PS5 would allow thermal paste to be replaced in a similarly easy way.

Well, Sony could theoretically do that but that would void the warranty for sure.

I recently re-installed a jet Engine game (110Gb) from scratch on my Pro & after doing so & playing the game for hours I immediately noticed the jet engine sound wasnít that bad. I can still hear the fan through headphones but it doesnít sound as loud as what Iím used to hearing.

The loudest my Pro ever got was my first play through of Spider-Man. The fan was definitely in last gear & it got to the point where I was thinking this game is gonna brick my system if I continue playing it.

I feel like the way systems are designed probably prevent this from being a thing more than anything. That and 99% of people probably won't complain about it to them or have enough of an issue for them to request that. Plus it could lead to more problems than issue of louder fan noise unlike changing the HDD which was simplified. However now it's not going to be upgradable at all internally.

I genuinely think the loudest i ever heard my game console was recently as mentioned where i had headphones in and it went really badly loud, but only because it was probably in that draw for a moment. After moving it out it improved back to normal. So a lot of people might not place their consoles in well ventilated areas and the rooms warm as hell which can cause problems. Mine usually is quite cool until its warmed up with the TV n PS4 being on for a while.

Probably but there's been no more rumblings or rumours of an event so far for February to reveal anything.

I'm aware there's loads of time but it's just with PS4 having had a reveal by this time it would have been nice too.

LMAO!! WHAT??? That's all we've had is rumblings and rumors! There was supposed to be a reveal on the 5th, the 10th, then supposedly Sony was supposed to have rented out a venue in NY on the 23rd (I think that was the date) for an "undisclosed" event.

You misunderstood what i meant. I said since those ones. No further new rumours or an official confirmation of any type of PlayStation event.

So i'm really curious when we might see a full on reveal now. Perhaps March?

At this point it's anybody's guess. Part of me still thinks they aren't going to say anything until around E3. I don't think they want to do anything to take the attention off of The Last of Us Part 2 launch. That game is going to be enormous, and I think they want to put all their marketing effort on that before they start talking PS5.

Well, tbh the fact is that nowadays there's big releases coming and everybody knows next gen is releasing this year. Sales have also declined overall so it isn't like people will suddenly forget. Whoever planned to buy a game will still buy it imo.

Well, the difference is MS have been happy to show more of their next gen and Sony hasn't really responded with their own form factor & design reveal or even imo scheduled when they will.
