Coming from Visual Entertainment Incorporated (VEI), Stargate SG-1: The Complete Series releases for the first time on Blu-ray on December 18, 2020. There is no indication that the two post-series films (Stargate: The Ark of Truth and Stargate: Continuum) are included in this set, but they are already both available on Blu-ray.

wait... wait. WHAT? They have a bad track record i bought the untouchables from them and it was 2.0 dd and just a straight dvd to blu ray upscale nothing was done..

One the one hand, it's great to see this getting the blu-ray treatment. On the other hand, it's getting released by VEI, which has the worst track record of any home media company with regard to TV shows on blu-ray.

I just hope they'll be using the true HD masters that are airing in Europe instead of putting out another lazy upscale botch job. Biling this as having a "super clean picture" with no other details does not instill confidence.

Unfortunately, there's very little information on this release so far. I posted only what they had on their site. I agree VEI has a very bad track record with Blu-ray releases. For sure will wait for a review before I buy. Really want to know what aspect ratio they're using and the audio spec.

Well, even if it turns out to just be an average release, I'll be stoked to finally have it on Blu-ray.. if it's an upscale with meh audio, I won't be too upset, as the Complete Series on DVD runs about the same price, or more. Not a terrible gamble to me.

One of my most anticipated releases.... but thought it was never coming and ran through the dvds last year ---- not sure if I'll be picking this up now because it may be a decade before I get a chance to run through them again, ironically. Certainly not for just an upscale.

The last three seasons were done in HD and are available in 1080p on iTunes and such, surely at the very least they're not so clueless that they'd use upscales of those seasons... r-right?

We'll be lucky if they haven't just upscaled the SD DVD masters and edited them down past syndication length.

I await the word from the designated guinea pig who buys a copy to let the rest of us know if we should bother.

I'm willing to be guinea pig #2 if only to get better packaging. The CE box set with the stupid accordion-like inner flaps drives me nuts. BUT I won't buy this if it contains syndicated editions. I can live with upscales but not edits. The compressed structure to allow for commercials are enough of a detriment.

I've been revisiting the series and am loving the crap out of it - all over again. Lots of great episodes. A Blu-ray collection would be a dream come true but I can see how remastering 10 seasons for HD could be expensive, especially since they may have to redo some of the effects. If there are HD versions making the rounds in Europe that means work on the series has already begun?

7 seasons. Seasons 8 - 10 were produced in HD from the get-go, no remastering needed.

“Super clean picture” is not what you want to read when the first few seasons were shot on 16mm.

Doubtful they would redo the effects in HD. The studio might have transferred the film elements to HD and up-scaled the special effect. Can't see that VEI has the budget to do any work but to transfer to disk, so at best it is what is already circulating, which may be nothing more then up-scales for the early seasons and HD for the last three.

Well didn't see this coming but wait to see the quality before jumping in. Not to mention the DVD set that is already out has all the discs in on giant case with all the discs in sleeves.

I will be purchasing even if it's just the last 3 seasons in hd it being on Blu-ray even in dvd quality for the earlier seasons will satisfy my O.C.D. as this and Fargo season 3 are all I have left in DVD (tech. Also classic who but they are being converted right now)
