Some people that cannot wait well spend $15,000 more for the Sony LCOS projector without the HDR10+ feature. Others may decide to wait up to 3-6+ months for the new JVC models to arrive to the United States.
How in the world are you assuming a 3-6+ month wait for JVC? They stated a one month delay which means November.

I cannot fathom anyone with half a brain spending $15,000 more to get a Sony that has far less performance. And by the way, JVC is not the only company that is/or could get hit by this problem.

Regarding HDR10+. It's nice, but how many discs have it? Answer: Not many. The frame by frame dynamic tone mapping on the JVC is what's key which covers all HDR-based content.

JVC tells me that other than the unexpected delay supply at launch and for months thereafter will be very limited.

I think I am going with the NZ7, but still trying to convince myself it will be worth the price vs an NX5. The laser dimming needs to be really, really good!

Yep, say in three years, a new chipset and RGB laser...we'll be back at it. LOL Good front projection is just too addicting and awesome!

I hope they don't delay my RS3100 further. I'm "slumming" it with my NX7 at the moment.

I'll trade you my VW285

ha ha ha ha ha ha ha.

Actually, the way the AVS'ers are reviewing these sight unseen and claiming all the new models perform the same again with no reference.... makes me glad I have a working projector in the mean time.

I need to make a shelf for my RS3100 so I think I should use the time to get on that. I don't think I'll want to wait any longer than I have to when it arrives.

I used to be very active at AVS but not anymore. Too much “noise” there.

Waiting for my RS3100 so I can dabble with HDR is tough ... So I'm reading the posts in the thread about them and it's bokers.

You would think the folks know everything about these already and have had years of experience with them.

I don't know if they are wrestling with the cost but they are picking them apart suggesting all sorts of hypothetical scenerios.

I guess it's mostly just hard for us to wait. Moreso I guess for anyone who let go of a NX model already.

A number of people at AVS are angry at JVC because of the price increase of the laser units. So, it's getting personal as some are acting like spoiled children who think they are entitled to something. It's hard to take some of those threads. Yeah, I wish these were cheaper too, but at the end of the day it's supply and demand - market and inflationary forces at play. What's interesting is, they give Sony a free pass who charges far more for less performance relative to product class. I am still determining my direction without throwing a temper tantrum.

I don’t understand why people are angry at JVC. If JVC can’t sell their projectors, they’ll drop the price. But JVC is unfortunately still the best value (best performer, actually) even at their new price and they will sell every single projector they manufacture, I doubt price drop will happen anytime soon.

I think the price is fine.

But, I'm not losing a big chunk of dough by having bought the NX series recently.

I personally think that the price is very high. On the other hand, if I don’t like the price, I always have the option to not buy it. so I bought it instead.

Completely agree. People also shouldn't forget the RS2000/NX7 went up in MSRP price a couple or so years ago.

What price increase are people talking about, the street price increasing? I still see the JVC DLA-NZ9 and DLA-RS4100 have an official list price of $24,999.95 on the JVC website (If the list price changed why has JVC not updated their website yet?). However, no one has these projectors in stock since the official launch date is no longer October, but a later date.

I think above was a reference to the fact the new projectors are more expensive.

The price of them hasn't changed. They just cost more.

The flagship JVC projector is $15,000 cheaper than the Sony, and in theory better picture quality on the JVC according to the specs. This means the JVC well be a bargain when it finally is released sometime this year or early next year. Some people that want something by Christmas well buy the better quality Sony VPL-GTZ380 for $80,000 or the Sony VPL-VW1025ES for $40,000 that does not perform as well on paper as the JVC DLA-NZ9 for $25,000. JVC also has exclusive HDR10+ but a professional review needs to verify that for $15,000 cheaper in price it outperforms the Sony. Sometimes spec sheets are not 100% accurate and a professional review one day well verify if the JVC is really better quality then the Sony.

Sony is going to be in some serious trouble in JVC's price range unless major changes are made. None of the Sonys have DTM either.

Now, the Sony VPL-GTZ380 ($80K MSRP) produces A LOT of lumens for someone who needs it. There are some consumers who have 15+ foot wide screens that need something to light up a monster screen, and/or a room that is less than optimal in terms of being black/dark enough. However, if I were looking to spend $80k...I would spend another $20K and get the Christie DLP which would be notably superior.
