Default Crysis Remastered

Ah, so the rumours were true and not surprised one bit. Although it's gonna be interesting to see the original compared to this version by Digital Foundry

No more "Will it run Crysis?" jokes?

I'd be shocked if a cross gen release wasn't in the works alongside PC considering Crytek could use all the sales they can muster with their precarious financial situations.

The original was developed with single and dual core processors in mind, so it runs like trash on modern, multi-core CPUs. Can barely break 60 FPS on max settings with a beefy PC today.

Got high hopes for this, and hope it includes Warhead too!

Are modern CPUs less powerful per core?

Liked the original enough, but never really had a desire to replay it. Maybe if the price is right

No, but the game is not able to take advantage of all the cores in a modern CPU.

At the time, 2006/2007, the industry looked like it was going towards very powerful single and dual core processors, so Crysis was developed with those in mind. Something like 8-10GHz dual or single core CPUs were expected to be the norm within 5-10 years, so that was what they were developing for.

So, you can never guess were technology will go :P

Day 1. Crysis is one the most underrated FPS franchises imo

So I guess this will look as good as it did on PCs? I remember this was supposed to be like the best looking game by far when it first came out on PC.

Chances are good I'll pick this up. I'm interested to see how the original looks as a remaster on new systems.

Only played the second one on the PS3--seemed really shiny and new back in 2011, but I took my time and didn't finish it until 2017. By then, it just didn't seem to hold up graphically (although it probably looks better on a PC).

Was this actually a GOOD game or was it a mediocre game that looked pretty?

IIRC, this was the main question posed by many reviews. Opinion was split to say the least...

I enjoyed it for the gameplay. I never played it at launch (and honestly played it last year on the Xbox One, so by then the graphics were dated).

I much preferred Crysis 2. The wide linear, more focused approach brought the best out of the action mechanics, in my opinion. Never got round to Crysis 3 but would love to give it a go. A remastered trilogy would have been perfect.

Never got to play any of this series, so I'll happily fix that problem and pick this up.

This is also yet another recently announced remaster to come completely out of left field, but is still obviously welcome.

Not entirely out of left field. The date the game takes place is August 7th. Thatís more than likely when it will release this year as well.
