They announced Kuuga on BD for September, so I guess we will be getting Fiveman on some disc format too. The toku train is running again!

This is in the description
"Introducing Shout Debut. Order this title exclusively through ShoutFactory.com months before you can buy it anywhere else." Wording makes it sound like you can't buy/pre-order it anywhere else for months, but the ad makes it sound like you can own it 'now'. I'm pretty sure it's suppose to be to receive your copy early, but we'll see when their September pre-orders show up on other sites. (I spent too much today and will need to wait to order a copy, but if anyone else does order it direct let us know if they're already shipping it). Last edited by starsteam; 07-03-2022 at 03:17 AM. |

Shout confirmed that Fiveman will be on DVD only — not on their streaming services.

From what I gather from Shout Factory releases, they like to release similar ones at the same time. Child’s Play Trilogy |

Shout Factory said they want to continue to release them. They are partnering with eOne for this, who now operate Hasbro's media assets.
I'm probably never going to watch another episode of Power Rangers if no one releases the new shows to disc. It would be interesting if Shout could do a Blu-ray set for Samurai-Ninja Steel and release the new shows. I'd hope to see Blu-rays for Super Sentai movies and new shows as well. |

Something like Goranger (the first series)? Quite possible since it has a Blu-ray in Japan. The movies? Maybe, many have Blu-rays in Japan, but Shout has avoided them so far. Newer shows (mainly late 2000's onwards), also on Blu-ray in Japan so if they ever get to them, sure. Most of the other older Sentai shows would be DVD only. It's safe to buy the ones they've currently released. |

The Sentai series available on Blu-ray in Japan are:
Goranger Dekaranger Go-Onger Shinkenger Gokaiger-DonBrothers (current) And I believe every Sentai movie has been released on Blu-Ray, except the ones that are just shortened and cropped versions of episodes that aired on TV. But yeah, don’t expect anything else to get the Blu-ray treatment in the U.S. |

I think sentsi and shout Factory have some of the same problems Ultraman and Mill creek have with Tsuburaya. If the series is recently available on Bluray in japan, it can only be released(with exceptions) on dvd in the states. Done mainly to keep the Japanese market buying their domestic Blurays of their series instead of importing a vastly cheaper US bluray of the same thing.

Yeah I believe Samurai was the first show to be fully in HD, and currently the only season to be on Blu-ray in the US. Since Samurai is where the Lionsgate ownership started, then it would be a great starting point for a new Blu-ray set if eOne handles the distribution to those shows now.

If the original contracts Saban Brands signed with Shout Factory & Lionsgate for DVDs were 10 year contracts like the one with Netflix, those would expire this year. And with Shout & eOne collaborating on the Fiveman set, this could maybe potentially lead to new PR releases from Shout (aka the Saban Brands/Hasbro/eOne seasons on Blu-ray hopefully)
