Here is the moment where we all take a deep breath and say, "Ok. I am not getting all the matching Ghibli steelbooks, and I'm fine with that."

Not sure what you expected? It's the same design as all of the Ghibli steelbooks that Shout has been releasing...

Somehow it looks even worse than the mockup--at least that flattened out the image a bit. Actually seeing that 3D character model printed on a steelbook is giving me some creepy doll vibes lol.

I'm waiting for a price drop on this one, but I'll probably be getting the ugly thing as well. I'm just not willing to pay full price for a blind buy from Goro after I didn't care for what he did with Ronja.

Goro's only ever directed one project that can even be described as "tolerable" (i.e. From Up on Poppy Hill), so I don't see how Ronja could have become the straw that broke the camel's back in terms of your opinion on him.

I'm glad that I decided to only collect all of Hayao's movies (along with a couple other Ghibli titles from other directors, like Arrietty, Whisper of the Heart, and Princess Kaguya), because otherwise I'd have had to shell out ~$20 for this garbage just for the sake of completionism.

I love From up on Poppy Hill, but, yeah, I’m not a fan of Goro’s work overall. I haven’t seen Earwig, but the reviews and the trailer don’t give me any hope of liking it.
