These episodes are edited right? Don't they have different music and such?

Every last one of them. There was no way CBS/Paramount could have been able to release them otherwise.

Hopefully that wouldn't be an obstacle to a Blu-Ray release. The fact that it was shot on film might, though. CBS would have to go on a massive hunt for the negatives to do new HD transfers, and they're probably still recovering from all they had to do for "Star Trek: TNG."

I think they should do it, though.

Love the show and just started re-watching it on DVD. It looks quite bad on DVD. With shows such as "Murder, She Wrote" and "Knight Rider" being released in HD, this show would be perfect. Same with "Melrose Place", "Dynasty" and "Dallas".

Yes! I would so love to see this get the BD treatment. Also the original Melrose Place and 90210 actually.

Aside from the music, are the episode edited in other ways?

Thank you.

Will this ever get a release with the original music and without all of the edits?

Sure would be nice to see it remasted (OAR!!!!! don't mess it up like Baywatch!) in HD on blu-ray.

I guess I could replace the audio with a combo of the bootleg DVD set I got that has all original epsidoes with no edits or music changes (poor video quality though) and whatever episodes I have on VHS, which is probably a fair number of them but not all (probably get better quality audio digitizing those than on the boots which are recompressed from compressed cable) and some I got off cable or secondary OTA channels in more recent years.

Not sure if the PQ on these is any better though and it's a high price for stuff with no original music and a fair amount of edits. They really keep a huge price on this set.

I do tend to put more of the blame for music changes on the music industry than the film. It seems unfair to ask for new money just because some format didn't exist when the original show deal was made. If you made a deal for a show or movie to use music then it should always be allowed to use the music no matter how it's sold. And if they must ask for some new rights for every single new format nobody even thought of way back when, wouldn't it make sense for them to ask just for whatever amount still makes a release viable instead of asking insane amounts that often make things impossible to release? What good does that do? The music studios get NOTHING at all then extra and the public gets stuck with garabge and ends up totally P.O. at the music industry.

Don't expect this to ever be released unedited with original music.
The network makes money from tv airings and they make money from home media sales. It seems only fair artists should get a percentage from those sales.

I have the complete dvd set and it watches fine. I remember watching the show in the 90s but I hardly ever notice when they replaced music, as I don't remember every song during the original airings.

Quite a few of the song replacements are pretty major.

It seems only fair that studios should be able to use music in a show they paid to use music in no matter what new form of media comes out. Just because they didn't know about blu-ray or DVD when the show started and VHS was out, come on. And if the music studios insist on extra rights, what about a reasonable, feasible amount for a new media format at worst? What do they get by asking a ransom? They get NOTHING at all and the general public gets more and more disgusted with them.

Anyway, managed to combine this with some other deals and get it effectively for a little over $100 so went with that. Will have to splice in missing stuff....
