The series premiere of the much-anticipated “Sons of Anarchy” spin-off led the night with a 1.1 rating in adults 18-49 and 2.53 million viewers. Not only did this win the night, though, but it almost perfectly matched the 1.2 rating and 2.53 million viewers that “Sons of Anarchy” premiered with on FX back in 2008. The premiere is currently, the highest-rated episode of any FX show so far this year, but it may be dethroned by the upcoming “Apocalypse” season of “American Horror Story” next week.

The first two episodes are already running a total of over 3 standard episodes.
That means each episode has to be atleast 2 hours without commercials. The 90 min episodes are actually only an hour and 5 mins without commercials.

I enjoyed the first episode of this show. Sadly, I admit, Iíve never seen Sons of Anarchy, so Iím hoping I can still enjoy Mayans MC without being lost. I tried watching the first two episodes of SOA on Netflix today, but didnít really like it.

I didn't either. I also thought The Bastard Executioner was bad. I didn't stick with them very long though.

I saw SOA and it was amazing. The Mayans are portrayed like one of the sworn enemies of SAMCRO but at the end of the day they are all criminals. They appeared in several episodes and Mayans Leader was Marcus Alvarez played by Emilio Rivera. He was almost series regular in the last 2 seasons. Not sure if thats true in the Mayans new show. Didnt watch it yet.

I just looked on imdb and say's he is in only 3 episodes of this season while most of the cast are in 10 episodes total.

Didn't they "work" with SAMCRO several times under Jax?

Don't remember their relationship with Clay as leader, but I remember once Jax took over they had a better relationship with them. Or was that the Niners I'm thinking of.

Mayans and SOA were rivals in the first three seasons, but they gradually built an alliance due to their shared criminal activities with the Galindo cartel. The same thing happened with the Niners, but it was a short relationship and forced by Damon Pope and later, August Marks, both of whom Jax rebelled against in the end.

I confused the Niners with Biz Lats (Nero's people).

Jax's negotiating with Pope and Marks was some of the worst stuff I've ever seen. They were both way out of his league.

Wasn't Danny Trejo's character a former Mayan?

[Show spoiler]Trejo was CIA mate. He was undercover in the Galindo Cartel for years i guess. Ended up killed with his head offered to Jax if i recall correctly.

The Sept. 4 premiere of Mayans M.C. was the most-watched cable series premiere of 2018, according to Nielsen. The telecast was also was basic cable’s highest-rated drama series premiere in Adults 18-49 since January 2016.

Overall, the Sons of Anarchy spinoff averaged 6.8 million total viewers for its premiere, three encore runs and digital streaming through Sept. 9. The number is sure to increase with additional delayed viewing.

Here’s an additional stat that should tickle creator Kurt Sutter: the premiere also bested the first episode of Sons of Anarchy by 46% in Adults 18-49 (2.5 million vs. 1.7 million) and 64% in Total Viewers (4.6 million vs. 2.8 million). Mayans also represents FX’s most-watched series premiere since the February 2016 premiere of The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story.

Well fairly good introduction to the spin off with few surprising guest appearances and SoA charter. I must ask was that scene in prison 8 years ago wasn't that a clip when Jax went to prison it looked very familiar.

I liked the second Episode a lot. More Stories after introducing a lot of characters in the first episode. The Atmosphere is great. I like to see more.

Mayans was pretty good this week. I hope it keeps this trend and builds into a solid show. I finished season 1 of SOA on Netflix today; I liked the second half of the season a lot better. I'll continue watching it (6 seasons to go). If I hadn't watched season 1, I would've never caught the Easter egg with
[Show spoiler]Chucky
on Mayans this week.

FX’s “Mayans M.C.” maintained its place as the no. 1 show in the Tuesday cable ratings for the third week in a row, and was even with the same 0.8 rating in adults 18-49 it had scored a week ago. The “Sons of Anarchy” spin-off also experienced a minor uptick in viewers, from 2.01 million last week to 2.10 million this time around.

Looks like it is still doing pretty well.
