I liked the film well enough, but it was a real slog getting through the first ep. of the series. Not really looking for more TV to watch right now, either... I may drop it entirely if it doesn't get much better quickly.

Every time I see Connelly in this, I think "ASS TO ASS!"

They should’ve dropped the entire season simultaneously, I don’t think it’ll hold audiences over a 10 week period.

Probably an unpopular opinion, but I'm enjoying this more than the film. Anyone else?

Same here. The movie did absolutely nothing for me.

Yeah I think the story is playing out better than the movie. The movie bored me, especially towards the end.

Likely due to Netflix being involved. The show is available on Netflix in countries not called the USA, and it's in 4K w/Atmos in some of those locations.

Finished Season 1, thought it was entertaining enough overall. If you want a complete story in 9 episodes you can stop at 9. Episode 10 just sets up season 2.

Show update:

‘Snowpiercer’ Renewed for Season 3 at TNT (EXCLUSIVE)

“Snowpiercer” has been renewed for Season 3 at TNT, Variety has learned exclusively.

News of the renewal comes just under a week ahead of the launch of Season 2, which is set to debut on TNT on Jan. 25. Season 1 of the show aired from May-July 2020.

Set more than seven years after the world has become a frozen wasteland, “Snowpiercer” centers on the remnants of humanity who inhabit a perpetually moving train, with 1001 cars, that circles the globe. It is based on the graphic novel and 2013 film of the same name.

The series stars Jennifer Connelly, Daveed Diggs, Sean Bean, Rowan Blanchard, Alison Wright, Mickey Sumner, Iddo Goldberg, Katie McGuinness, Lena Hall, Annalise Basso, Sam Otto, Roberto Urbina, Sheila Vand, and Steven Ogg.

“Snowpiercer” has had a long and circuitous route to the small screen. The show was first put into development in 2015, ordered to pilot in 2016, and ordered to series in 2018. Original showrunner and series creator Josh Friedman left the show, with Graeme Manson taking over as showrunner. After that, Scott Derrickson, the pilot’s original director, did not return for the pilot’s reshoots, citing creative differences with Manson’s new vision for the show. James Hawes came onboard to direct the reshoots in July 2018. It was then announced that the show would be moving to TBS, but was brought back to TNT in October 2019. At the time of the original TBS move, it was announced the show had been renewed for a second season.

I think its been consistently one of the best shows on TV. But this thread is dead so I have never posted here. Blows the movie out of the water, the same way 12 Monkeys did.

Yeah, I am really surprised there isn't more buzz about this show. I think part of it is the somewhat limited availability in streaming. Season 1 is on HBO Max now, and Season 2 is currently airing on TV. I actually ponied up the $20 to buy Season 2 on Amazon as it airs so I can keep up, because I enjoyed Season 1 so much on HBO Max and just couldn't wait.

I'm really glad that we already know that Season 3 is a go. Relieved that it's not going to be another show that just fades off.

Looks like the episode 9 is already up on TNT streaming not sure if by mistake but premiere date 03/29 a 2 hour finale. Either way expiring by Monday but I watched it and DAMN! Just damn Wilford is just FNG SICK! A lot of scenes I did not expect that would have been on TNT.

As always Sean Bean ****ing kicks ass best choice as Wilford.

Season 2 was $9.99 on Prime Video a few days ago, and is $14.99 at present. I picked it up at $9.99. Season 1 was entertaining, and I have high hopes for Season 2. Hoping the new factors in Season 2 don't overwhelm the show's ability to move a compelling story forward.

Just finished the last season released and thought it was a decent ending tbh - not what i expected, but i feel like there's more coming. They made a statement of showing the ice melting on that final bridge shot. Anyone know if they're planning on continuing the series?

Will have to give the film a watch later
