I am hoping someone can tell me whether the extras, including all the major and minor extras across the entire set, are identical to the "file cabinet" set put out by NBC/A&E in 2006? I'm trying to decide which set to buy. The Shout Factory site doesn't seem to list all of the extras on their set.

I'm pretty sure the answer is yes, but if you tell me something specific that isn't listed, I'll be happy to double check my Shout discs.

Hey, thanks very much. I appreciate it. Here are the extras that the File Cabinet set has that I'm not sure whether the Shout! version has:
1) Barry Levinson's acceptance speech at the 2004 VSDA awards
2) Cast and Crew Biographies
3) To Catch A Killer: Homicide Detectives (American Justice episode)
4) Super Bowl XXVII commercials for season 1 premiere
5) Song Listings
6) About "The Board"

Shout list the bonus features of their reissue on their website.

Dang, I hate to say it, but I don't see them. (I have the disc contents on my media drive, so I didn't have to check every disc individually.) I hope somebody comes along and tells me I'm wrong, but it looks like those are missing. Personally, don't care about most of them anyway, but #1&4 sound cool, maybe #6 if it's not just a text thing.

Thanks again for checking. Now I know which set I want to get. Unfortunately it means I have to shell out for the OOP file cabinet set. At least yours was a normal price!

If it helps at all, there was a non-file cabinet version of the 35 disc set, I almost pulled the trigger on it a few times before the Shout release was announced. Presumably it's a lot cheaper now than it was then. The individual sets would be fine for the most part, but the only way to get the three "Law and Order" crossover discs is from the "Homicide: The Movie" Disc 35 bonus disc in the "full series" set. (You can sometimes find the disc individually, people break up the sets.)

Sad news I heard earlier today, that actor Yaphet Kotto has passed away.
