Here's my movie content review of Justice League that I posted in the Movies sub-forum.

When the Earth is threatened by an ancient force, Bruce Wayne and Diana Prince must assemble a team of fellow metahumans in order to protect humanity. Batman, Wonder Woman, The Flash, Cyborg, and Aquaman ultimately come together for the greater good, but even they may not be able to save the world alone.

Justice League is a mess of a movie that continues the DC Comics tradition of releasing poor man's substandard versions of the vastly superior films from Marvel Studios, and it's a step backwards after Wonder Woman, which was released earlier this year as the most effective DC effort to date. The godlike villain, Steppenwolf, is the main weakness of the story, because, although the character is drawn from the comic books, he still comes across as a blandly generic presence that echoes the same sort of thing that we've seen before in dozens of video games and inferior computer-animated tales. During the dated digital effects battle sequences, my mind would wander, and I would think about what I was going to eat for dinner after the movie or about where I was going to go for a run the next morning. The plot involves something about Steppenwolf bringing three Mother Boxes together as an ultimate destructive energy force, but I had already forgotten about that story element as soon as I walked out of the theater.

The Justice League team is quite endearing, thankfully, and their interactions are the saving grace of the film. Ezra Miller, as The Flash, provides the best moments, and, pun intended, he easily outdistances the rest of the players. Ben Affleck continues his streak as the best Bruce Wayne/Batman yet, and his portrayal of the characters benefits from some increased levity this time around. Gal Gadot is superb yet again as Wonder Woman, although it's quite evident that many of her scenes were quickly inserted into the final reel after Wonder Woman proved to be a success for the studio. Cyborg, played by Ray Fisher, is one of the more sympathetic characters, and he's also the coolest-looking hero of the bunch. I really did not care much for Jason Momoa's tattooed and bearded “unhappy hipster” Aquaman, but this is mostly because the filmmakers do not use him for anything except jumping around with a pitchfork, despite the fact that the character, with his unique powers, has the potential for some visually-stunning sequences

I really wanted to like Justice League more than I did, especially because it follows on the heels of Wonder Woman, but the jumbled storytelling, likely a result of the reshoots by Joss Whedon after director Zack Snyder suffered a personal tragedy, failed to quicken my pulse. Even the oft-maligned 2016 DC Comics film, Suicide Squad, captured my imagination more than this new film does. There's a lot of enjoyment to be had here by way of watching the dialogue moments between these Justice League characters as they first come together, but I just wish that the filmmakers had given them a more exciting villain to fight, and I wish that the battle scenes had been given a more creative shine. The final post-credits scene put a smile on my face and conjured memories of the old cartoons with the Super Friends and the Legion of Doom, so here's hoping that future Justice League films will have a better fate.

Justice League succeeds as run-of-the-mill cinematic escapism, but it could have been so much more.

I won't touch this unless there's a longer cut or the snyder cut. This film was probably my biggest disappointment even more than SW ep7.

I'll probably get it to simply have the digibook, but honestly while I did like the movie, everything feels reduced, condensed, and repackaged.

No guarantees on it happening, but Target/WB have been pretty consistent with the DC line of exclusives, so I’m hopeful. Wouldn’t surprise me if, in typical Target fashion, they drag their feet on making it available.

If they used this (apparently real) theatrical artwork from China, I would buy the hell out of this:

I think there may be a possibility for an extended one with some stuff put back in, but as for a "Snyder" cut, you can probably hold your breath.

I have the previous 4 in Digibook format, and I will be very upset and likely throw an epic tantrum if JL isn't released in Digibook form.

If we get an extended cut or ultimate cut or Snyder cut with all the scenes or most of the scenes from the trailers that weren’t kept in the movie that would be great.
