Sorry, I have no definitive answer.

3D Output "Auto" influences depth settings for the Oppo's 2D->3D conversion feature
3D Output "Forced" influences Native-3D depth values, where (2D->3D Depth @ 16) optimizes native 3D with proportional realism. and the value affects the 2D->3D conversion algorithm/features.

I finally bought and connected an Oppo 2-3 to my 65E6P. OMG, this tweak really works! The 3D on this display was already among the best I had ever seen. Now it is the best 3D I have ever seen. WOW, WTF took me so long!

Watching Ghost in the Shell with the Oppo UDP-203 and using PaulH's settings was a revelation. The film looks so much better than it did on my Oppo BDP-93 at standard settings. If you haven't watched Ghost in the Shell with this combination, I strongly recommend it.

3D workmanship of a creative masterpiece from a quality encoded Blu-ray 3D.

Both the Oppo and OLED with the component combination tweak reproduces what looks to me like precise, proportional, native-3D accuracy of the digital information available. It sure adds real-world thrills to the experience!

ok, I need help now... i have an 82" mitsubishi dlp 3d tv... I have a new all region oppo uhd-203... of course it plays 3D blu rays... but it also says it does 2D-3D conversion... but i can't find specific instructions how to do this!

obviously I need to turn the tv to the 3D setting & put on my glasses... and I have the oppo set to "forced" for 3D... but none of the 2D discs i try have any depth whatsoever over if I was watching them normally... and in fact they don't look as good of course because the glasses darken the image...

has anyone tried this & what all settings did you set? thanks in advance!

The Oppo's 3D conversion feature is accessed via the "option" button on the Oppo's remote control and by choosing "3D" which will appear on the available banner on-screen. Pressing 3D a second time will bring up the list of three available 2D-to-3D Setting choices [2D->3D Depth, Side-by-Side, Top-Bottom, and Back-to-2D].

Personally, I never use any 3D conversion feature although "Side-By-Side" or "Top-Bottom" will be needed for those kind of native-3D formats encoded on a 2D Blu-ray that needs to be viewed correctly as native-3D from the SBS and TB 3D formats.

wow - that totally worked! I thought i had tried everything and was at the point of figuring that it just wasn't going to work... have put in a number of blu ray's with varying degrees of success but i'm overall thrilled with the results! thank you!

I feel it important to provide a link to the Sharpness, Super High Resolution, Edge Enhancement and 3d viewing on LG OLEDs thread which was placed on the "3D TVs and 3D projectors" forum.

This Sharpness tweak adds Quality 3D clarity for 3D on 2016 3D OLEDs and I suggest it be used in conjunction with the Component Combination '3D setup' tweaks on this thread.

Note-Warning: (The Sharpness tweak does not work for my 2015 EG9600 3D OLED, which I discovered has sharpness already optimized by default in '3D setup', and if used would over-optimize sharpness, starting to produce unwanted 3D artifacts.)

So Iím watching the Galapagos in 3D from that Samsung triple feature disc and I am just speechless. Itís not that itís been a while since I watched it, itís that the picture looks completely different. I canít help but describe it any other way than it just pushes into your living room. Thereís a scene where they use laser to guide the submarine and the lasers literally shines out into your living room to the point where I was looking for the red dot on my shirt LOL. Itís tremendous how much this tweak adds to the IMAX 3D films, especially this one. Iím going to check out ďInto the DeepĒ next but Iím not sure it gets much better than this. Loving 3D tweak 2.0!

Thanks TheScottyLee for the heads-up. IMAX GalŠpagos 3D is truly spectacular in native 3D using Tweak 2.0. The 3D is astonishing! Doesn't get any better than this, with infinite spacial real-world depth and dynamic pop-out beams hitting you in the eyes!

Hey Paul, looking forward to trying this extra tweak!

Sent you a message about this but I don't think you saw it - just ordered an Oppo 103, it has the 2D-3D setting that the your 'v1 tweak' relies on, so hopefully I get the same results with it! I'll report back in this thread, it was a lot cheaper than a 203 so maybe it will be a good option for other people if it does the same job?

If the Oppo 103 using the 'v1 tweak" outputs via HDMI to an LG OLED 3D display using Tweak 2.0, you should experience the same result.

See post# 55 from the LG 3D OLED owners thread.

Yup, 2016 4K LG OLED over here (and proud!). I was just curious if you would say the Oppo 103 would produce same results RE 2D->3D set to 16 as I remember in the first post of this thread (or maybe another) you said the Oppo 203 was equivalent to Oppo 103 with tweaked settings out the box, although based on what you said and the timeline of you posting the 2D->3D tweak, I think perhaps what you meant is video quality wise the 203 was as good untweaked as a 103 tweaked, and the 2D-3D is its own separate thing?

Just curious because I'm hoping to achieve similar results as you, but I can't plop down $1k on an Oppo 203 from scalpers so I was happy to get a 103 used for under $300 from eBay

Also, RE these version numbers, that v2 you linked to seems to be an even newer tweak to me! In my head it was

v1 = Oppo 2D->3D Forced, 16
v1 (.1?) = LG settings 20, -5 for 3D, Auto
v2 = Super resolution/sharpness (only read this one recently, have yet to try)
v3 = LG settings 20, -10 for 3D, Auto - I only read this today, still rocking your 20, -5 settings (and thanks for those!)

So what is the correct nomenclature? We need to standardise the naming convention for these tweaks for easy reference.

It can be mind boggling I know, so I'll summarize again.

Oppo 103 or 203 3D setup
3D Output = Forced.
2D-> 3D Depth @ 16

LG 3D OLED: (Calibration values are set while a 3D source is playing for 3D mode to be activated):
3D Depth 20, 3D Viewpoint -10 - These values can only be set via 3D Manual Mode.
Then you must Select Auto Mode before exiting the 3D Mode setup and the Picture setup controls.

Regarding LG OLED 2016 vs LG OLED 2015 3D sharpness setting:
1) The 3D OLED "Super resolution/sharpness tweak" adds quality 3D clarity for 3D on 2016 3D OLEDs only = sharpness @ 100% = H 50 & V 50.
The "Super resolution/sharpness tweak" does not work for my 2015 EG9600 3D OLED, as sharpness is already optimized by default in '3D setup' and will produce unwanted 3D artifacts. 2015 OLED 3D default = H Sharpness @ 10 & V Sharpness @ 10.

Haha yup there is a lot to process! Although in this case I was more joking about having a naming convention for all your tweaks!

I guess a more direct question for you is do you use your old Oppo 103 set for the 2D->3D 16 tweak, and do you see the exact same result? Given that everyone in this thread using the tweak is on a 203, me buying a 103 and hoping for the same result was more of a gamble. I'm tracking the package and eagerly hoping to experience the same magic that all of you did!

Yes and Yes.

Have both a 103 & a 203 connected via HDMI to an LG 3D OLED 65E6P. Double checked IMAX GalŠpagos 3D yesterday and the 3D looks just as awesome from the Oppo 103 using the tweaks.

Okay so I am now the proud owner of an Oppo 103. Just as far as video quality it blows my Xbox or PowerDVD from the PC out of the water!

As for the 3D, I really can see a difference! I booted up avatar first and the depth and popouts were far stronger than I remembered. Ditto for Toy Story 3, don't remember that having particularly impressive 3D but on the Oppo it looked great!

Only interesting thing is that when I pause a 3D movie (ie a movie that lets you pause and remain in 3D) and fiddle with the 2D->3D slider, I can't see any difference? Maybe that setting is just a placebo and the Oppo just does better 3D by default, or maybe you have to apply the setting to see the difference? I fiddled around with it but wasn't sure it was changing anything.

Still, very happy with my purchase and a big thanks to you Paul for letting us know about the Oppo!

Avengers: Infinity War 3D has produced the strongest 3D conversion experience I have had at home to date via tweak 2.0 and Oppo combination tweak.

Default settings produce a very different experience producing noticeable 3D mildness.
