The series has a pretty good soundtrack, but I kept waiting and wanting to hear this song:

I watched the first episode ó it has the tone of the comic pretty well in hand. Loved the winking references to Butcher's dog and especially the casting for Hughie's dad (readers familiar with the series will get the connection).

Looking forward to the rest of the episodes!

Well there is Preacher which also had mature content but not at this level but if Preacher was made on Amazon Prime it probably would have followed the comic book better and probably be hard TV-MA also like The Boys.

Not sure if we are talking about Marvel Comic Books or MCU movies and TV Shows if you read Marvel Max or Marvel Knight comic books they are also ****ed up, the version of AKA Jessica Jones TV Series was toned down compared to the Marvel Max comic book Killgrave aka Purple Man is really sick **** nothing like the show.

Thank you to those using spoiler tags. Iím usually one of the last things trending (I just wrapped up S2 of Stranger Things), but this might be where I break that rule.

I really enjoyed this. Great action, some sly comedy, and fun premise. I tried to watch Titans and I couldn't even finish it. It took itself way too seriously. Even when it seems like The Boys might start to do that, they throw in something off the wall.
[Show spoiler](I'm looking at you, dolphin scene.)
The acting in here is pretty great, as well. I've always thought Karl Urban was one of the worst actors around, but he shines in this...probably his best role yet. It's also got an awesome cliffhanger that's got me chomping at the bit for season 2.

Also, going into it, I thought the graphic violence and nudity that's been discussed was going to get tiresome, but I honestly never found it to be that bad. Definitley not as gratuitous as an episode of Game of Thrones.

The Boys is a pretty solid show. I've only watched a few episodes so far but my initial impressions are all positive. It's a much stronger adaptation than Preacher.

It's no surprise that Amazon cancelled their live action adaptation of The Tick. Both series cover a lot of the same themes but The Tick never really got a grasp over it's style and tone. I suspect Amazon didn't want to fund two series that were so similar and dumped the weaker of the two.

Will have more to say about The Boys in a few days after finishing the back half of the season.

My take in the final episode:

[Show spoiler]I think Madelyn Stillwell is still alive, the one that got zapped by Homelander* and detonated by Billy Butcher was the Shapeshifter

And do anyone of you happen to visit "The Boys" Premiere Weekend Pop-up at West Hollywood (Los Angeles) California in Fairfax Street?
  • There were amazing sandwiches (from Chef Ludo Lefebvre) and cocktails
  • A set piece from where Transluscent got locked up
  • Another Set piece where the Female is watching TV with Frenchie
  • The best part was an actual live play where the butchers and actors did an actual bloody action sequence as in bloods lot of bloods!

I really liked the respective character arcs of both A-Train & Hughie and the progressions of their arcs culminating in the final episode.
[Show spoiler]Hughie going from a pushover with no agency to saving the man who took away his partners life. The simple thing would be to turn A-Train into a conduit for Hughie's revenge but Kripke was illustrating how empty Butcher's revenge trail was with the end scene with Homelander.
Enjoyed the whole season and looking forward to Season 2.

It's like a strange love-child of the members from the Justice League and the Watchmen further mixed into the workings of The Incredibles. This show is amazing. And shockingly darker than the trailers (that I saw, anyway) made it out to be. I thought this was going to be more of a comedy.

I started episode 1 last night after work and before I knew it, it was 3:30am and the show was over. Damn my addictive personality...
