Are there any special features that didnt make it from the original release?
Is there any reason other than the artwork to keep the original when this releases?

Just got the steelbook of this and Galaxy of Terror in the mail.

First the good for Forbidden World:

*MORE trailers, TV spots and even a radio spot have been added.
*Both cuts look absolutely fantastic on this release.
*Sound quality is way better this time around.

And now the bad:

*Mutant, for some reason, is presented with an MPEG-2 encode. Using MPEG-2 in 2019 is absolutely inexcusible.
*The TV spot for Mutant from the old blu is missing.

Of the two, i'd say Forbidden World got the beefier upgrade of the two. Just wish Mutant wasn't in MPEG-2.

I just got mine today-- MUTANT is the director's cut listed as a "new 2k scan" on the back? The theatrical cut is the "new 4k scan" yes?

Correct, though I think they ended up doing a composite of the 4K scan with 2K inserts for Mutant.

Looking at both the old 2010 BD and the new 4K remaster, I wouldn't be surprised if the theatrical cut was restored from the OCN or one generation below the OCN.

That's how good the remaster is. Old BD is much fuzzier and less detailed than the 4K remaster. The HD remaster of the Mutant cut looks better than the old blu-ray too even with the MPEG-2 encode.

Now as for Galaxy of Terror, having compared both blu-rays directly, the new 4K remaster is indeed a good upgrade from the old HD master but unlike Forbidden World, its not nearly as a massive upgrade like the other film. Doesn't help that its obviously not sourced from the OCN like Forbidden World. The biggest problem, really, is that its a bit soft looking at times, but not really DNR'd either.

Honestly, i'd say Galaxy of Terror's 4K remaster is very similar to Halloween II's 4K remaster in overall aesthetic.

How are the bit rates of the theatrical cut and director's cut of "Forbidden World" on the new steelbook?

How much longer is the director’s cut/Mutant? Also, has anyone confirmed if the entire director’s cut is from the 2K scan or if this was seamlessly branched?

More nonsense from Amazon.ca ...
"We're still trying to get hold of copies of "Forbidden World" and "Galaxy Of Terror" for you, even though you have had a pre-order in since DAY 1. Really sucks to be you, don't it?"
Or some such, I'm paraphrasing here..

Watched this on Saturday night, enjoyed it a lot. The fast pace keeps it from getting dull, too me anyway. The robot SAM looked amazing, good production design for the props, great picture quality on the disc.
