If the animation can somewhat mimic Tim Sale's art, this could be fun.

Yeah, this may be great if they can mimic the Sale style. With it being two parts, I know to wait for the Deluxe Edition, a little later.

Agreed that the Tim Sale style needs to be mimicked for the movie. It's too iconic not to be. Don't get me wrong, the writing itself is great enough, but the art and character design is really what adds that cherry on top. I can't even imagine it with any of the more recent designs.

The Long Halloween is one of my favorite Batman books and has some of my favorite character designs, so I'm quite excited for this. By splitting it into two parts, I hope that means they're giving it the necessary time to breathe and build. I hope they learned their lesson from the liberties taken with the Hush storyline and just gave us a more faithful, direct adaptation. I know Dark Victory wasn't quite as well-received, but if this does well enough, I hope we'll see an adaptation of that as well. Heck, give us Haunted Knight as a short or something.

the animation will be shit, and always has been shit. this is just typical warner bros milking whatever property they own while putting lil to no $ effort into it. From script/dubbing/animation. Stop supporting it
i would say zack snyder justice league cut is an exception but it's not them bankrolling it, aint it?

i always love how much the cover art gets alot of attention in execution though, so misleading

*looks at second pic. Looks at my profile pic.* I kinda like it.

Unfortunately, that's the name of the game these days. Movies are represented one with with a poster or trailer, and doesn't always follow through. For a direct-to-video animated film, we're not gonna get the same quality as a big budget theatrical movie. I'm not expecting an exact replica of Sale's style- it's probably impossible to do without the man himself, but at least something akin to it.

Man, I was really hoping they released the first look after seeing this thread trending. Really excited for it. Hope they make it like The Dark Knight Returns or Under the Red Hot. Not like the last shitty DC animated movies.

I read the Long Hallowen comic two years ago. Glaringly similar to Nolans The Dark Knight and the ending is better than the movie ("I believe in Harvey Dent")

Sorry, I must have missed your post. I was searching online for any update on the movie, hoping for a First Look teaser like they usually put out, and the rating was the only recent thing I found, so I figured I'd share it, not realizing someone already had.

Personally with how rare 2D animation for US media is getting, I like the DC animated movies. I would be all for bigger budget fare but once there's a serious budget involved the studios want it to be 3D like what Pixar/Disney, Illumination, etc, have been doing for the past couple of decades.

The last time I can remember American 2D animation in theaters is The Spongebob Movie Sponge Out of Water (2015) [movie is 70% 2D animation], My Little Pony The Movie (2017), and Teen Titans Go to the Movies (2018).

What is part one rated? I saw part 2 is R. I only watch animated DC movies if they're rated PG-13
