They got access to the master tapes (that was one thing they were waiting for before the release was announced) so I can't see their being any cuts.

PQ on the hour opener is very rough. Improves after that on the regular episodes, though, thankfully.

This set is basic as is all ViaVision labeled releases. No episode list/guide or information to know which discs have what episodes. You only get the episodes, no extras which is pretty normal for Australian stuff that hasn't been released before. If it has been released beforehand, then ViaVision labeled releases will be a duplicate of the previous release so you get all the same content. Picture quality is pretty decent considering its a TV serial from the 80s. I do agree the PQ on the Pilot episode is pretty poor, probably because they didn't have a master tape or it had deteriorated.

Just so everyone is aware, ViaVision is owned by Madman Entertainment. Madman have also acquired Beyond Home Entertainment's catalogue since BHE ceased trading in the DVD and Blu-Ray market.

Can you give references on that?

Madman Entertainment is only the distributor for releases from Via Vision as far as I know.
Also Shock Records are currently re-releasing several titles from Beyond Home Entertainment, not Madman Entertainment (check the Dealer's Guides).

I think my Collection 2 has just been dispatched, anyone else pre-ordered this?

The artwork looks hideous - the box is bright blue!

Also anyone got any news on when Collection Three will be available to pre-order?

Si.

They haven't added any of Via Vision's releases yet, which is why there's only three pages of listings for June.

Fingers crossed!

My Season 2 has now made it to the UK from Britain and is "entering" Royal Mail's remarkably informative postal system. I'm braced for a hefty customs charge coming my way shortly!

So... no Collection 3 for June, but it may be of some consolation to know that The Young Doctors - Collection One is scheduled for 16 June 2021. Priced at $189.95.

35 DVD set. First 250 episodes included.

They could have shipped the entire series on Blu-ray at the same quality (maybe chuck in lossless audio for good measure) on fewer discs than that. Just sayin'.

I e-mailed Madman about Collection 3 of Sons and they said "going off the time between the previous releases this should be available for pre-order mid-year". But that just looks like someone has checked when the previous releases are out and made a guess!

I suggest if you are interested in the complete Sons coming out, an e-mail to Madman (orders@madman.com.au) politely asking them about it round about now wouldn't hurt.

Si.

No sign of Collection 3 in the July shedules. Having said that though The Bill seems to have stalled at Series 16 with nothing in July after 1 series released per month in recent times

They're doing some pretty cool stuff at the moment with The Young Doctors and Chances, I'm sure everything will be out eventually when time permits.

Thankfully Sons and Daughters has a deal with the Australian streaming service, 7plus, so they have extra incentive to finish the job and not ditch it like with E Street. That and the clearly huge sales figures and interest

To be fair, that's where my collection ends too.

They’ve advised a few people via email that they have Collection 3 tentatively scheduled for October.

Ah OK. Bit of a wait then. I would have thought as there was 4 months roughly between Collections 1 and 2 that Collection 3 would be released around late Summer. I guess they are concentrating on other releases in the meantime such as The Young Doctors
