Exclamation Recommend Documentaries on DVD

I’d like to create a thread where we can discuss/recommend documentaries that are available on DVD, but are NOT available on Blu-ray or through HD via streaming services.

This seems to be an area with a TON of releases that are unlikely to ever be upgraded to HD or even offered on streaming platforms.

Here are some of my picks:

- BBS: The Documentary (2005)
- Freedom Downtime (2001)
- The Hobart Shakespeareans (2005)
- Maestro (2003)
- Scratch (2001)
- Wild Parrots of Telegraph Hill (2005)
- Z Channel: A Magnificent Obsession (2004)

Hopefully this thread will gain some traction.

Empire of Dreams is a 2.5 hour long Star Wars documentary that was only in the 4 disc DVD set and it’s fantastic. Not sure if it’s on streaming bb

Dogwoof has lots of worthwhile DVD only titles in the UK.

I have a documentary section in my collection, so can recommend:

Depeche Mode 101, Down from the Mountain, Biggie & Tupac, The Corporation, The Fog of War, Lost in La Mancha, Commandante, Death of a President, Two Years at Sea, The Black Panthers, Kate Plays Christine, The Fear of 13, Mapplethorpe: Look at the Pictures, South, Wisconsin Death Trip, Capturing the Friedmans

Neanderthal by BBC/PBS

I wish people would respect the Neanderthals even though they're pretty much extinct. However, there are people with Neanderthal DNA.

Turns out they're more likely Asian than European, but some might have been Eurasian.

Its sense of urgency has been neutered by the realities of capitalism, unfortunately, but it had quite an impact on me.
