It's actually kind of disappointing that the Alex Ross inspired poster can't be used or reused for this and is forever stuck with the Theatrical cut

All the more reason to put 'better art' on the steelbooks - if the artwork's so appealing, it should boost sales. Regular editions will sell anyway, so you put the 'better art' on the premium editions to boost sales of the more expensive items.

The SteelBook is going to sell out.

You could put a white title on a black background and no pictures and the SteelBook is still going to sell out.

Always assuming it's a truly Limited Edition.

Finally got around to watching this last night. This is the JL it totally should have been from the beginning hands down! I have to admit tho I was really let down having to watch it with the 4:3 ratio! I respect his vision and reasoning behind it but with pretty much the entire planet owning widescreen tv's and fans pushing to make this happen it should have been geared for our sets!

I completely agree. I think making it 4:3 was a pretty boneheaded decision.

So with this being said I really want to know if we will get a different aspect ratio with the physical media release or was this simply an HBO Max decision to release it in 4:3 as he intended?

The film will only be released in 4:3 on streaming and physical, as Snyder intended.

So why do we have it listed on here as 1.33:1, 1.85:1?
1.33:1 = 4:3 Correct?
1.85:1 = American Widescreen Correct?

It's incorrect and even that states the film will be released only on 4:3. It would have been 1.85 had Snyder released in theaters in 2017, but there will be no official release in anything other than 4:3, as Snyder intends.

No theatrical release means no widescreen release IMO

It was shot full aperature spherical. That means he shot a full square frame with the action framed for what he would matte/mask off within that frame.
He framed for 1.66. Matting for 1.85 or 2.35 would just start cutting off heads and feet

Do we know that it can't be, or just that it won't be?

That refers to the movie, not the Blu-ray.

Aspect ratio: 1.33:1 (Blu-ray)
Original aspect ratio: 1.33:1, 1.85:1 (movie)

But the OAR of the movie is 1.33:1. They took the info from IMDB.

Any legitimacy to this? Saw it on a Finnish store, looks pretty cool.

Just noticed that Superman’s outfit is not black in that cover so I guess it is fanmade.
