I finally just convinced my better halve to buy the PS3, I am going to buy a 35 ft HDMI cable from monoprice. Any suggestion on how I should hook this up?

I have mine hooked up with a 6 foot cable. My projector is mounted on the ceiling and my PS3 is located behind me from my viewing location. This doesn't form a problem, especially since the PS3 remote is bluetooth (almost spelled that blu-tooth) and not IR.

I didn't want to bother with running cables all the way to the front of the room, so everything is set up behind my couch.

OK the 1st thing you need to do is get rid of that crappy HDDVD add on
2nd buy Ps3 ASAP.
After these 2 easy to follow steps it should be smooth sailing

I guess my main question is should I set the PS3 to 720p or set it to 1080p and let the projector down scale it. I think that is what would happen. I have a pull string to pull the HDMI cable because everything is about 25 ft apart. Also do I need to set the PS3 to do Dolby Digital 5.1 or does it do it automagically?

i have the same pj as you do, and would suggest the following...

1. 35 ft cable, into a switch (you can get the 3x1 for future proofing)
2. connect the 35 ft cable into the out section
3. get corresponding hdmi cables for the rest of the display sources.

or get yourself one of those more expensive switches out there, that can handle all of em and output them via hdmi ( i saw one for 75dollars or so)

resolution - id keep it at normal IF you kept your ps3 at 720p. id SUGGEST tho to go 16:9 instead, and let all your outputs go full 1080p/i what have you...

keep us posted.
