Watched it last night. Was really excited to see it but in the end felt it was just okay. It wasn't bad but very underwhelmed.

Disney in general has become more soulless and corporate. All the talent and resources in the world can't compensate for the lack of heart and spirit that Disney used to exude before it was taken over by committees, focus groups, and "activists" who'd rather keep their fingers on the pulse of social media gossip, than creativity. 20 years ago they wouldn't have touched the notion of making Cruella a sympathetic protagonist.

Disney products just leave me cold.

Any reason why this is not in 4k on iTunes?

Disney hasn't made a 4K version available for purchase I think it'll only be available on January 25th.

It’s 4k on Disney+ so they are pushing people who want 4k over to that service now. 4k should be available from streaming services when the 4k disci isreleased in February.

If you buy it on VUDU, it’ll port via MA and they’re upgrading all purchases now till the 24th to UHD for no charge. It’s 19.99 versus the usual 24.99 they charge for 4K.

Watched this on Disney+ over Christmas and rewatched last night.

Felt it's above-average Pixar - Beautiful visuals and songs that grow on you (especially if you have kids), but it felt a bit small-scale considering the subject matter as if a 1/3 of a story was missing at the end.

I think Coco & Moana were better overall but I'll be hearing the songs for some time to come.

This was very underwhelming. The entire movie is just exposition dialogue. SHOW, don't tell, people. Also some of the dialogue in the songs was hard to understand so I'm glad I watched it with subtitles.

Is that the one live action film we’re not getting?

There were plans to make it, but it doesn't seem to be the case anymore. Even if they did make it, they will probably remove all the innuendos the original film had (hair sniffing, lusting in the fireplace) and will turn out to be a sterilized film like all their remakes are.

The soundtrack rockets to #1 on the Billboard 200. The first album to dethrone Adele’s 30 since it was released.

Well, I really really liked this, more than expected. With that said I have nitpicks, such as not really liking the melodies of the songs or the singers voices much. I also thought maybe it was trying too hard to ride Coco’s coattails, and I do appreciate the many morals it was trying to tell, though I think it could’ve been tighter.

Really, I just wasn’t impressed with Lin Manuel’s music here, but I never got on the Manuel bandwagon recently anyway.

After watching Raya, Onward and Luca and finding them all little more than ok I was pleasantly surprised by this. Decent songs, no dull villain, funny and absolutely gorgeous animation.

Checked this out on D+, it was decent but kind of average. The songs are decent, the protagonist is likable enough (other characters are rather bland), and it has an interesting concept but they don't do a lot with it. Overall it rings a bit hollow.

1. Soul
2. Raya
3. Luca
4. Onward
5. Encanto
