Default TOSHIBA: Share Your Custom Display Settings

This thread is intended for members to share their custom picture settings for all TOSHIBA model TV's.

To help make life easier for others...please try to include (but not limited to):

TV Model Number?
Weather it's an ISF Calibrated setting or Disc calibrated setting?
What Input Connection this setting is used for? (ex. HDMI, Component, Composite etc)
What device is connected? (dvd player, bluray player, cable tv ..etc)
What kind of room lighting you have? (dark, dim, bright etc)
Any key features that are turned on or that should be turned off?

Additional Info: *Calibrate Your HDTV*

*Please do not criticize settings being shared...it is a courtesy to those who cannot afford an ISF calibration or do not own a calibration dvd.

*Please also keep in mind that using someone else's settings may look good but it does not necessarily mean it will be ideal for your viewing pleasure and may require some tweaking.

*It is also NOT recommended for anyone to go into the Service Menu to make any adjustments.

Right about--------> Here!
Default Regza 42rv530u

My Toshiba comes tomorrow, but I scared these settings up ahead of time. Let me know what you think. I probably won't get into that for several days since I'm doing a TV/Receiver/DVD replacement all at one go. I'll eventually get an AVIA disc but I'm hoping for a ballpark not-too-bad with these. I'd credit the author but I just copied and pasted them real fast, I hadn't even pulled the trigger on the TV yet.

"Toshiba TV Settings

I watch about 50 / 50 SD and HD and these settings seem to give me great results.

My settings for my 46RV530U

I have made a few changes since my last post with Custom Display Settings.
Before the last post I found out that PS3 settings make a big difference with the TV settings.

Not sure which PS3 update made a small adjustment and threw the rest of the color off. I thought I needed a new bulp, but come to find out it was the Super-White setting was turned on. I made alot of changes before I realized the problem.

Now I know the PS3 settings make a difference with the TV settings.

So here are my new settings plus the PS3 settings I believe make a difference

65HM167

HDMI
PS3 --> Receiver --> HDMI port on 65HM167.

DNR off, Lamp mode=High Bright, Color Temp=Warm.
MPeg Noise Reduction=High
Dynamic Contrast=off

Contrast 65
Brightness 56
Color 56
Tint 2
Sharpness 55
Gamma -1

Playstation 3

Under Video Setting
BD 1080P 24hz Output (HDMi)= On

Under the Display Settings

Cross Color Reduction Filter=On
RGB Full Range(HDMi)=Limited
Y Pb/Cb Pr/Cr Super-White=Off

Here are two example with the new settings, also the pics really don't give full justice.

I found these settings on the AVS forum last year and have been really happy with them. I did make one change - never use Dynalight or you lose dark scene details.

Brightness - 55
Color - 37

Color Temp - Cool (Warm if you wish but cool looks better to me)
B Drive - 0
G Drive - -2

I have a REGZA 42HL167 and used the THX Optimizer feature found on Star Wars I. After loading the DVD, select Option, and you'll see the THX Optimizer icon, select it and it open.

It does help to order a pair of the THX Optimizer Glasses, they have special lens for adjusting the intensity of the primary colors.

To the people that have Toshiba LCDs, what picture size do you use for Blu-ray viewing? Right now I use the Natural setting, but in the instructions it says that the Native setting is better for 1080p resolutions. But I find that in Native the black bars are too thick and occupy a lot of space, like watching a widescreen movie in a 4:3 tv. I find that Natural has a more correct widescreen presentation. I am worried that the picture is getting some type of overscan although it's not noticeable.
