Panasonic 58pz800u

=PLEASE SHARE YOUR SERVICE MENU CALIBRATION SETTINGS=

The TV is great. Even in THX mode most are finding it is too dark for most to watch.

The following Service Menu Calibrations are being done by most for this model.
I like them myself.

They were found using one of those eye camera calibrator things. I did not do the eye camera myself, I am just passing on the info.

Of course it will vary depending on what month your TV was made as each board is a little different spec wise.

In other words use these tweak, they are OFF SETs off of your default settings. Which means you add say 10 to what you already have. They are HEX codes so do the math. Write down your default settings before you go back.

Search the web for how to get into the Service Menu, there are some nice step by step settings out there with pictures.

service menu
B Drv 83 -> 8D (+10)
R Drv FC -> FA (-2)
R cut 80 -> 7F (-1)
B cut 80 -> 81 (+1)

After you do these, use the Tuning program that comes with the Disney Blue Rays or rent Avia Digital Video Essentails to get the normal User menu settings as your settings will vary with each TV and ROOM lighting.

I think the TV was set up to be viewed in a dark room.Since my room is dark day and night I think the THX mode will be fine.I am paying for it so I am going to use it.After all who says Avia etc is perfect either.WE don't work for THX so how can we say we can do better than they can??

Thanks,
I'll be posting my 50PZ850u settings within the next couple of weeks.

In order to check the hours, do this:

  1. Enter Service Menu (Hold Vol. - down on the TV while pressing the INFO button on the remote 3 times).
  2. Press the {1} button on the remote 6 times until you see SRV-TOOL.
  3. Press the {OK} button. A blue grid will appear with the following information.
    TD2Mictocode: 81c00011
    Flash ROM: 1-227E
    PTCT :00.00.00.00.00
  4. Cursor down to the PTCT :00.00.00.00.00 line and then cursor over to the right to highlight the empty box.
  5. Press and hold the {MUTE} button on the remote for 3 seconds.
    The TIME / COUNT info will be displayed in Hours and Minutes of Operation.
  6. To exit, press and hold the {POWER} button on the TV for 2 seconds.
    The display will re-start by itself.

If you feel uncomfortable entering the service menu, navigating, and performing these operations, then don't do it. You can seriously harm the performance of the display if you push the wrong button.

As of 5 minutes ago, I'm at 87 hours on mine.

I have not played with anything other than the hours and that process is explained above.

I think there is a process over at AVS on how to get into the SM and what to do. I haven't got that far into the research yet.

All I'm trying to do is check the hours. I could not even do that. The menu opened but I could do not do anything in it.
