These settings seem to be pretty good for the Phillips 42TA648BX/F7. Unfortunately, I only have a Direct TV HD receiver with HDMI cable running to it at the moment, so I can't comment on how a BR looks, but the picture seems to be an improvement over what I had set originally. Even the wife commented on the improvement.

Guys I'd love to share my custom settings but I'd have to check my Philips TV and look for the figures, I'm too lazy for that. Suffice to say that after a laborious search I got my settings to my liking.

Glad too help....Wish more HDTV owners would do some research & adjust the set's properly....I hate people with an HD set but aren"t even watching HD..lol

Some settings up above or scroll back to my old set's calibration settings. I thought they were VERY dialed in and were from AVS. I used a DVE DVD and came out pretty close to them.

Does anyone have settings for this tv yet, or have any experiences with this model. I just picked up a floor model from Costco yesterday and my friend has my DVE calibration disc.

I know there hasn't been any activity on this thread for some time. But, anyone bought a new Philips lately? I just bought a 55PFL5505D at a decent price and wondered if anyone had different setting for this HDTV besides the previous posts so far?

P.S. new to the site and loving it.

I'll bump in too but i got a different question: Does anyone own the 42TA648BX model? Until some recent researching, I was left to believe that the 42TA648BX model is just flawed with annoying dimming/contrast issues, even with the dynamic contrast set to OFF. It is very bad for Blu-Ray viewing. Bright scenes go over intensely bright on the eyes while dark scenes dims the whole picture.

I thought leaving dynamic contrast set to OFF would resolve all the issues but it's still there. I'd honestly love to buy another HDTV if it means no contrast issues but if there's still some fix, I'd love to know. Anyone?

Hi guys,

I have the Philips 37PFL7605 and I'm trying to get the settings right.

Does anyone know which gamma setting to use to get closest to 2.2? The scale only goes from -5 to 5.
