you should send a PM to HDTV1080P

he's been running this thread:

Displays that support 1080p/24

...if anyone would know, it would be him.

Well, perhaps the firmware update changed it?

My 1080P TV (Samsung 40" LCD) doesn't advertise that it can do 24p but it does it no problem, asked the guys in the shop before I got the TV and they didn't have a clue but I set 24fps mode on the blu ray player and it came up fine 1920x1080@24hz

also i noticed the blue light for 24p is on on the front of my s350, which in its owners manual says if its outputting that and the display doesnt support it the result would be a blank screen

Just because it accepts the 24hz picture doesn't mean that it properly resolves it. If it's not advertised chances are it still does 3:2 pulldown. My set accepts 24p material, but doesn't properly resolve it.

Depends on the set. Some are better at taking that signal and displaying it than others. Chances are you won't notice a difference, but try it and see. It's not hurting anything either way, it's still going to do 3:2 pulldown.

You should get a Calibration Disc to test that.
There are plenty of sets on the market that accept a 1080p24 signal but only display at 60Hz.

I have the LN40A550 like you do and even thought it displays 24hz it doesn't do 24p. I turned 24p off on my ps3 and to me i get less "jerky" motion. The tv just displays the signal it is receiving but it does use pulldown so it is displayed at 60hz.

My friend just got that display and I hooked up my PS3 to try 1080p. Long story shorter, it doesn't like as good as it should and 720p is better.

What settings do I need to make sure are set on the PS3 to ensure at least the same quality? Do you recognize a diffrence between those two resolutions?

Thanks!

I know we turned off 24p on PS3. The display was set to picture = normal and he made adjustments to brightness, contrast, etc. etc in that menu.

The PS3 asks about HDMI color mode off the top of my head but I don't remember what that was set to on PS3.

Any help would be appreciated if you can check your settings when you get the opportunity.
