Default Metal music thread

I figure there's enough of us here..so why not a thread dedicated to metal and all its genres

Metallica fall tour with Lamb of god and Gojira opening...no dates for Chicago...but I'd probably leave after a Lamb of god anyway lol

I'm not a metal fan at all, but I hope this thread gets going. There are a lot of members here who enjoy that genre of music.....good for you that you started this!

Just.....keep the noise at a respectable level !

I had no idea. I don't keep up with cd releases. That rules though. Hopefully something else comes along to top Clouds over California and End of the Line.

Lol. The only 5 Cd's I own are Wrath, Sacrament, As the Palaces Burn, Ashes of the Wake, and Burn The Priest.

Speaking of Metallica, how many fans listened to St. Anger once, and then struck it from the record as being a Metallica effort?

I wish I could find that S&M Concert DVD in town.

I like the new Mastadon quite a bit. I prefer the score tracks with no vocals.

Long time metal fan here. Don't even know where to begin with my collection and/or tastes. I listen to black, death, viking, some melo death, classic, industrial... I have roughly 1600-1700 CDs so yeah.

Last CDs I bought were:

The Faceless - Planetary Duality
The Faceless - Akeldama
Obituary - Darkest Day
Obituary - Left To Die

Awesome thread idea!

I did. You could say the same thing for Load and Reload. Terrible, especially when compared to their first four or five albums.

I didn't mind some of both of those disks. At least they were still metal.

St. Anger was a disaster though. No guitar solo's...WTF?

I listen to almost everything from And Justice For All backward constantly. After that album they lost me, with some track exceptions of course.

Same. Luckily I heard it online before buying. I didn't like Load or Reload anyway so there wasn't much hope for me buying it. The new one sounds horrible to me too. There are much hungrier and better bands out there that deserve my money right now.

For me, it's the Black Album and then all before it. The exception, which is kind of like a fake exception is Garage Inc; released after Load and Reload, but all were old songs. Some of the tracks were even recorded with Cliff Burton ("Blitzkrieg" and "Am I Evil?" possibly my two favorites of that compilation), so you know those were old.

Metallica really fizzled out (for me) after that. I still listen to all that old stuff, though.

I try to take it all with a grain of salt. I mean, no band is going to be playing music exactly the same way for 25-30 years. Their tastes have changed, and so have their styles. It is that reason I try to shy away from "I hate Metallica now" comments, because I realize they've just shifted over the years, and it's a natural thing. The dudes are like 45-50 years old now anyway.

As a Metallica fan I listened to it over and over when it first came out. Not because I liked it but because I WANTED to like it. I kept playing it, trying to find something about enjoyable. But alas, no success and the cd has collected dust on my shelf ever since.
