as we were reading to do battle with our enemies, darken the skies they did to try to instill fear in us, but this would avail them naught for I am The God Of Thunder, it is I that commandeth the storm and the rain throughout all the 9 realms.

I dideth calm the storm and disperse them, and having no other choice, they did heed their masters commands, the clouds and the rain dideth recede and a clearing was upon us and the sun reigned anew!

I rallied my team to the peak of perfection we knew this day, right would win over wrong, good wouldst conquer evil, on this day, we knew, we wouldst prevail!

with all the marvel heroes at our dispose, we entered the fight!

as our foes were upon us, ready to destroy us, we didst take one moment, all of us, to look around, pon yon mortals, the non heroes and we surely knew at that moment, what we were fighting for. it was that moment, I didst ready and draw Mjölnir, grasped with both arms, calling down ancient lightning from the heavens and led us into harms way with the battle cry that they our enemies wouldest soon never forget: VILLIANS, WE STRIKE FOR BRODIN, FOR ASGARD, HAVE AT THEE!



the battle raged on, we sustained some losses and some injuries, but, never any doubt of the outcome, we for the most part remained whole. our foes however, were not so lucky, they were vanquished, into a Pool of Dead!

the danger past, the mortals didst look on with wonder at the devastation of that which was left of our enemies. Of said villians, With their last breaths, they didth threaten to find a way back to this great hallowed event, NYCC in 2016. and as they were on their way, into the darkness of the void, we let them know, we wouldest be here waiting, next year at the Con, ready to send them back! NUFF SAID!

with the battle over, we reigned victorious, unyielding to the grasp of evil brought on by the darkness of the scalpers the teams disbanded. Silk Spectre provided them all with NYCC Gift Bags, did photo ops and wished them well as they went onto other things. though, they let us know that if needed, we only would have to call (or take out a camera or a camera phone) and they would be there!

so, I raised mine hammer, Mjölnir, to the Heavens in praise of our triumph over the dark forces of the Con, knowing that in 12 months, we would return to this place, even such, my daughter Silk Spectre, might appear as yet another. she has accompanied me to many a NYCC and so long as the heavens do shine and the cost of 3 day passes don't go up too much, she shall be forever at my side at the Javits Convention Center for Cons to come!



well, that's all that I have for you on NYCC 2015. next year, I promise to take more pictures of the crowds, events as well as more cosplay and hero fun! yes, the BrOdinson will return for NYCC 2016! but, (interesting choice of words) before I go, I battled for many things, the galaxy, the safety of mortals in NY at the NYCC, but let it be clear, all of the battles this weekend were fought for my true prize.................................... ..............

thanks to everyone who has looked at this thread and enjoyed it. a special thanks to everyone who commented and or left "thanks" as it was my pleasure to present this to you! I promise to take much more pictures of a great many things next year. my daughter were so caught up in things with cosplay and we had to pose for so many pictures, I didn't take as many pictures of other things as I thought I did and or should have. Next year, it will be different!

dude, there are plenty of pictures I didn't even post. we go to NYCC a lot, we try to go every year as one of our father daughter annual events! this was the first year we both did cosplay together so we knew we would be "part of the show" as it were.

having gone to so many Con's, it's not a new thing for us, we go to see the sights, mingle, take pictures, go to live panels if there's something of interest we want to see (this involves waiting in long lines for a couple of hours sometimes) as well as buying things. not to mention, we do go for the laughs and to crack on folks of course!

we did go to the panel for Marvel Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and that was nice, we got to meet Agent Coulson, Phil is a Boss, Yo! we always go to the Wacom booth to see the latest electronic drawing tablets and accessories. they know us so well at that booth that they gave my daughter a $100 drawing stylus (pen) for the iPad FOR FREE!

so, we have our favorites that we always hit while there. we just love the atmosphere, we like hanging out and how many men can say their daughters love comics, superhero movies and love to go to the Con's and do cosplay with them at the show? see, I'm one of the lucky ones.

it was quite the event just for the two of us to walk through Bed-Stuy dressed in cosplay to get to the train station. in the morning, on a work/school day too, at first I was like but the reception of the people was soooooooo good, til I was like no doubt that we will be doing cosplay again next year. my daughter will be going as someone else, she said she may even want to go as two different characters on different days. me, well, you know who I'm gonna be.

as for the "did I pick anything up" if you mean like Vampirella, no (wish I could have though) but we did buy some things at the show and of course, we got some free swag so, life was good! best part was I felt like a Hollywood star. I can't tell you how many pictures I was asked to be in at the con and there were so many on the street, in the subway stations, on the trains, in restaurants, with grown ups, with kids, a couple were even with families.

so as you can see, yes, we did enjoy the show despite all the pictures we were in. that's part of why we do it! that reminds me, I've got to put my last picture in the post above yours, I forgot to last night. i'll get that in place probably tonight.

howdy New York ComiCon fans. just thought I'd give you people an update. Wednesday this week past, I got a pair of 3 day passes to 2016 NYCC for my Daughter and myself, so fear not, we will be there in full-on cosplay. the House of The BrOdinsons' presence will be made known!

with the grand daddy of Comic Con's almost upon us, in the SDCC, my "Con" juices have started to flow! I have started working on updating my costume for NYCC. my intention is to make it even better than it was last year. I have started with upgrading my helmet. I found some stuff to allow me to add a poor mans "chrome" type effect to the helmet to give it some reflectivity.

it comes with a shiny, grey plastic body from the factory. I removed the side wings before treating the helmet as shown below on the left, please click on the spoiler next to the picture to see the results of my work:

above to the right is the helmet after the treatment is done, I think, for a small amount of $ it turned out rather well:


I also treated the (six) body discs decorations with this treatment, but, to a lesser degree than the helmet since my main focus was the helmet. here is a shot of the helmet and one of the body decorations next to it. both show a nice reflection of the miniature Thor figure standing between them:

i'll put the wings back on the helmet in the next day or so. I want it to have plenty of curing time before handling it.

I am also working on the costume body, i'll post about that later. it will be October before you know it, I plan on being ready!

So as part of my outfit upgrade, I chose to take a different path and a different look. Last year I went with a black one piece spandex, but I wasn't very happy with it as it was hard as phuck to get in and out of. I got the largest size offered and thanks to all the gym time the upper body gave me an extra workout getting into it. And don't even get me started with going to the bathroom!


So, for this iteration, I'm going to go with a two piece outfit to get the job done. I found a proper fitting leather look thirt vest and briefs. I will put a couple of snaps on them to keep them from moving around and from coming apart while wearing them.

Also, I had the power belt made of ribbon material last year. This year, I found a 3" patent leather yellow belt to do the job. I'll modify it for the front "T" and the winged Sigel on it. I'll also pit snaps on it to keep it to the shirt to keep it from moving around.

I'm also gonna use the same type belt to create the boot wraps to keep continuity in the look and material. I'm also getting a red and black belt to make the wrist bands too.

Here is a shot of the upper laid out with the body decorations temporarily sitting in place.

With the blue spandex running tights on, (same ones as last year) it's looking really good. the leathery look of the material gives the costume body what I believe it the right texture and appearance needed. I'll show you guys a test fitting later.

so, as promised, I did a test fit of the new 2 piece torso & briefs with the blue leggings, the yellow belt and I held the cape in place.

I love the creamy texture that the "leather like" material of the top and briefs add to the look of the costume. I've held two of the torso decorative discs in place and they look yummy against the black leather like background. the leather power belt in all it's patent leather glory looks great, again, the appearance, the texture, the reflective qualities from the surrounding light sources. I will make the belt Sigil decoration with the same type of material, except, I will make it a gold color to give that jump out effect and ultimate contrast.

this yellow belt material will be the same used in the calf wrappings. I will also sleeve black leather material exactly like the 2 piece set for the under section of the boots and this year, yes, i'll have the knee guards atop the boots! in this picture, the red cape just brings it all home!

with SDCC 2016 in the books, NYCC 2016 is creeping up on us, now, faster than ever and yes, the BrOdinson will be there to represent!

So, I received the last of the belts I need for the outfit upgrades.

The yellow (I purchased several of this color to ensure I had plenty to work with since i'll need a lot of it for the boots as well as a dedicated one for the power belt) will be the lacings over the black calve/shin boot sections. The yellow will also be the power belt. I will create the belt sigil decorations by building up from the black belt and the gold belt to give it depth and contrast to get to the "T" on the belt.

The black and red belts will be used to create the forearm bands. I am using these patent leather belts for all of these things because they add good looks, match the leather like torso & briefs and they give continuity of appearance between them throughout the costume. They will add the 'Pop' to the outfit.

At least that's what I'm hoping for. I'll keep you guys posted.

I began cutting up the belts into sizes and rudimentary shapes that will eventually become what I need.

nothing is attached to anything at this point. I blocked out the shapes I needed.

the red/black will be the forearm bands. the yellow is the power belt (it's actually an entire belt too! ) the black will be the center back drop for the sigil. the gold will be cut into the shape of wings to form the raised center piece. the small black strip is only a representative of the letter "T" that will go in the center of the golden wings to form the complete belt sigil.

I hope tomorrow to cut two more yellow belts to make the calve lacings over the black calve sections.

I will be using this material glue to bond the parts of the belt together as well as the black bands over the red bands.

I will also be installing plastic snaps onto sections of the forearm bands to hold them together and i'll also put some snaps on the belt and on my costume top to hold the belt in place to keep it from moving around and out of alignment from the front of my body.

the sigil ends will line up with the 6 body metal disc sections of my outfit. yeah, I've put a lot of thought into the design of everything.

if things go right with the belt, it will have a nice raised appearance giving it a nice thick slightly 3d look to it when seen slightly off axis!

i'll hope to do some gluing this weekend and if I do, as usual, i'll keep you guys posted.

I've never been to a comic con and I don't have much knowledge of cosplay (beyond watching Syfy's 'Heroes of Cosplay') but I really enjoy your pics, creative storytelling, humor, and passion. And it has been interesting to follow the steps you're taking to improve your outfit this year. I know all your planning and hard work is going to pay off - can't wait to see the final result.

well, I've reached a point where i'll give you guys an update, but, not a visual one. I'm getting close to where I'm going to make the 2016 thread and I want to save it for that.

I finished the calf pieces which are black sleeves with yellow wrappings and the black boot tops/knee guards and yes, they have the yellow inserts just like the comics.

I feel really good about that because last year, I was not able to figure out how to create those knee sections and I'm really proud I was able to get it like I want it.

I've gotten the belt done and I put a little spin on it and I think it looks really good. (according to my daughter and another cosplay friend!) the white canvas slip on sneakers will be here mid week next week and i'll spray paint them lemon yellow to match the belt and calf wraps.

I only have a few things left to do, I have to complete the new wrist bands and work on the cape attachment system. of course, I have to wash the wig and get that situated! but that's minor in the scheme of things.

so, I think, this is the last post i'll make in this thread. my next post will be in the new 2016 thread.
