I have this TV and a PS3 and I don't get the 3D look like in the stores. When I watch HD new channels I do get that 3Dish look. I am using a HDMI cable too. Why doesn't look as good?

This 3D look you are referring to is the enabling of the newer 120Hz Motion Flow technology in newer televisions. What is does is display video playback at 120fps instead of the standard 24fps when set at its highest setting. The 120fps gives the film a more video quality and 3d effect.

calibration???
120hz has nothing to do with 3d look, 120hz helps on movement in movies & pulldown. I get 3d look on my a2000, so sounds like you need to do some calibration. My settings (lamp has about 2-3000 hours), tv is in a dark room: HDMI Custom mode- Auto Iris: Auto2 Picture: 65 Brightness: 60 Color: 54 Hue: R4 Color temp: warm1 sharpness: 4 Advenced setting: Black Corrector: OFF Gamma: OFF Clear White: OFF Live color: OFF white Balance (diffrent on every tv) Detail Enhancer: Medium (this adds 3d pop & fine detail like in rocks, cloth, grass & in close-ups of skin) Edge Enhancement: Off |

Calibration & yes a good PQ BD is what does it. A 120hz tv's can not do 24fps & has to do pulldown (5:5), pulldown on ANY tv is not as good a native output 24fps projector or tv, because in pulldown repeating frames to fill the space & why 120hz look better is cause it repeating more frames to fill the space. "As a result 3:2 pulldown shows odd frames for 49.98 milliseconds and even frames for 33.33 milliseconds. At 120Hz 5:5 pulldown from 24fps video is possible[14] meaning all frames are on screen for the same 41.65 milliseconds. This eliminates the jerky effect associated with 3:2 pulldown called telecine judder. " http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HDTV_blur |

Where did I say still image? I said the "3d" "Alive" "creepy" effect is due to 120hz. I just ask you to go check one out then come back, set the 120hz on high then turn it off.. it's night and day.
Wether it add artifacts or people prefer it or not is a different subject.. but 120 IS the reason for the "alive" "3d" effect. |
