Default Interesting Thing Happened This Weekend...

Some friends of my parents were in town this past weekend and they had just built a house a put a theater room in their basement. While we were talking he brought up his theater room and said they had put in a blu-ray player. The wife looked at me and said "thanks for costing me thousands of dollars".

Last year while I was at in Las Vegas (where they live) I convinced them to go to the Sony-Style Store and took them into the theater room where the employees there showed off both the 70" SXRD and I believe it was the Qualia projector. Anyway, they were blown away by that Blu-Ray vs. DVD comparison promo where they do the split screen of the Knight's Tale. She told me that if I had not taken them there she would never have let here husband talk her into it, but since she saw that and how amazing Blu-Ray was she had to have it too.

The next night my fiancee's sister and parents were in town and after showing off planet earth through the PS3 on my 60" SXRD the sister said she is going to go home and try and convince her husband they need an hdtv, and a ps3 this christmas and her parents are feeling the same way.

Show off the system, the product convinces everyone who sees it. This weekend I am getting married and a lot of people will be in town. We'll see how many I can get hooked by this weekend GO BIG BLU!!!

Thanks for the congratulations, just can't wait 'till this is all over and I can have my life back
Buying 7 new blu-rays before all of the family gets here to support the Blu buy week and so that I can show off all of the new movies. I'll be pimping the $400 PS3 pretty hard as well

I have been able to convince two other couples to buy Blu. They have come over to watch movies and are blown away. It is always my guy friends who jump on it first and the wives give "that look", but by the end of the evening they have warmed to the idea and both couples have made the jump. Of course they complained about having to buy the wide screen tv, the Player and the sound system, but it is worth it and also, both have said they now enjoy movies at home more than theaters.

We all try to do our part, small steps.

I had to do the same thing to convince my wife to go along with Blu-Ray. She used to roll her eyes at me when I said I was going to buy the BD version of a movie we already had on DVD. "We already have that movie. What's the difference? I can't believe it's that drastic and noticable." I set up POTC DVD in the DVD player and the BD version on the PS3. I paused both movies in the exact same place in the movie and showed her the difference. She was blown away. Now she understands and wants to upgrade the TV. YESSS!!!!!
