Default Free Comic Book Day

Just a reminder. Tomorrow, May 4th, is Free Comic Book Day. Comic stores across America and even some worldwide, as well as some local libraries, will be giving out free comics to those who stop in. It s a big thank you to all the current comic fans and also a way to attract new fans who may have never gotten into comics. If you're not near a comic shop, many of the issues will also have a free digital counterpart via the Comixology app or website. If you do happen to stop at a store, try to make at least a small purchase as well if you can. The comics are free for us, but the stores still have to pay for them.

I went this morning first thing with my 3 year old. It was pretty good, I was really happy that we went early this year as we were in and out compared to last year. I mostly got kids stuff but I was able to get the 3 comics I wanted for myself.

The Walking Dead Special
Judge Dredd Classics
2000 AD Special

It is always a fun day to attend the local comics shop on FCBD. Most stores have sales going on and other events, like comic book pros in attendance or something.

Some stores do support it better than others.

I had a chance to visit 2 stores and a library. I ended up with quite a haul.

These are all my freebies, including a Iron Man Hero Clix (I dont play, but it looks cool)

And here are the items I purchased. I filled in some holes in my collection thanks to some sweet sales.

I did end up with about 8 duplicates from the free books, but I plan on giving them to some kids I know who couldn't make it out to a shop today.

All in all, I say it was a very successful Free Comic Book Day.
