Default You order one tablet, but receive two! What would you do?

TL;DR: Purchased tablet, received two. Should I return extra one or keep it for self? Already spent thousands at particular retailer. They've made tons of money off of me.

On Black Friday, I placed an order to BestBuy.com for a tablet (Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 9.7) for my mom for Christmas. Immediately after placing the order, I saw no confirmation of the order on either the website or my email; so I placed another order (not knowing whether or not the first one went thru).

I then received two confirmation emails about an hour after my order, and I was not able to cancel. Therefore, I was expecting a delivery of two tablets. The one that I ordered, and the one that I would need to return.

I received two boxes; both containing the expected tablets on the same day, with corresponding order numbers and serial numbers -- as was expected. Then the unexpected came. I received a 3rd box.

This 3rd box looked identical to the other two boxes.

I opened it.

Lo and behold, a 3rd tablet of the same model was presented in front of me. Upon careful examination of the order number, it was the same as one of the previous orders that had already arrived. I then thought through the process of what happens in the warehouse. Certainly the Serial Number will set it free. Well, the individual who scanned this particular tablet scanned the UPC as the serial number.

So I now have the extra tablet in my possession. I have tested it out and I love it! I will be able teach my mom so much about how to use her tablet and how to personalize the one I bought for her. However, in your opinion, what should I do with the one I've tested?

Should I keep it?

Should I return it?

I've already spoken to Best Buy and made my decision; but I would love to hear what others would have done in my situation and how they would handle it. Let me know. I'd love to read!!! The only other situation that resembles mine is when a mother received 5 iPads, and that's just insane lol.

Also, not that it made a difference in my personal opinion, but my research revealed that if a company ships something to you that you didn't pay for, it is your's according to the U.S. government. This is in place to prevent companies from sending things to your address and demanding payment for said unexpected deliveries.

citing that rule, you could legally keep it. but i think i'd at least TRY to return it. i'd tell....whoever....what happened, step by step, and get their input.

BUT...

you have no LEGAL recourse to return it, as you stated above. but if you do call and speak to someone about it, make sure to get their name, their employee # (if they give those out, some places don't), the date, and the time that you called. i always do that if i have to call anywhere for anything "official" (bill-payment issues, cancel an order etc.)

Just out of purely feeling guilty accidentally receiving two, I would at least try to contact the company.
