Default PlayStation might be joining Movies Anywhere

I called ma because when I bought the trolls 2pack on iTunes world tour was in 4K on iTunes and FandangoNOW but NOT movies anywhere and Vudu.

Apparently there's a known issue with 2 packs of movies on iTunes but after that I ask about PlayStation store and rather than the usual if anyone else joins we'll let you know they said I can't comment on that like something's not quite ready to be announced perhaps closer to the PlayStation 5 release!

NOT yet proof that PlayStation store and movies anywhere will link up but I've never had any other people say that they can't even comment unless it's being worked on and Sony wants to announce it later now we'll have to wait until ps5.

In retrospect it was very NDA like I still believe something's up as Movies Anywhere representatives have never been so nda in responding to a question they've been vague and if anything changes we'll let you know but even after saying the vague we'll let you know they said I still can't talk about that which is why it's so suspicious like it is in the works but we'll see likely around PlayStation 5 release!

If anyone else had this impression after calling them and actually getting told the same thing it's even more likely sony is prepping for Movies Anywhere!

Sony is already part of MA... If you mean they are making an MA app to put on PS5, well thats cool but still, just another device added to the compatibility list.

They are talking about the Sony Playstation Store, a digital retailer, who they believe might be joining Movies Anywhere this Fall/Winter. They're not talking about the studio.

I only have one movie on the Playstation Store, but I ended up getting it on VUDU years later, so nothing to gain for me personally by them joining, but potential good news for those interested.

I hope so. Since DirecTV just joined that will mean all the major digital retailers will be members. Then the only thing they can do will be to add additional studios.

Might coincide with a ps video standalone app which will allow you to watch or download the movies and not just watch it on the PlayStation system we'll see though with the pandemic I'm surprised that more studio's haven't joined Movies Anywhere with a longer shutdown possible and people home to watch stuff it's the perfect time to get ma more content.

I hope they do add PlayStation Store support for Movies Anywhere so that I could sync digital movies with my PSN account so I can watch said movies on my PS3 (I don't own a smart TV nor do I own a PS4).

Did they get rid of the Vudu app for PS3?

Does anyone really buy from the PS store? I know they shut down their TV service because it was a failure in the end, and I've never seen anyone brag about getting said title on PS store... lol... I mean it would be nice for those who do use it, the same as it was when they added DTV. I just feel they should be focused on getting Lionsgate, Paramount and MGM on board before going after these other services that are somewhat less desirable, IMO.

Well. Unless MA drops the price of admission and ongoing membership, neither of those three are gonna join. I’m not holding my breath anymore.

And having more retailers helps alleviate some of the criticisms of digital ownership. I have some Sony movies albeit in SD sitting in my PS Video account thanks to an Xperia phone offer. I also have some I purchased that I can’t watch unless I cast to my TV.

Paramount is prolly the closest to joining, since they recently merged with CBS in the Viacom/CBS merger, Paramount needed really stable footing financially before trying to join MA again. When CBS announces the revamped "CBS All Access" later this year, I expect Paramount to be welcomed into MA at about the same time.

Lionsgate is still bleeding debt, I don't see them entering MA anytime soon. MGM is also quite shaky, though they DO own the classic Bond back-catalog which is really the only attractive asset that MA users would desire. IMO!

That would be an extreme "IMO" considering MGM's catalog.

Potentially a good sign that Paramount has gone to single redeem codes this year as well.

....which is WHY i noted, IMO!
I'm fully aware that MGM's vast properties have appeal other than the Bond movies to some, but I'll wager those who frequent the MA locker (Star Wars, Marvel, DC, etc.) the Bond films will have more appeal than anything else.

MGM has a lot of good single film movies, but not many of the most popular franchises.

They do have Rocky, Clint Eastwood Collection, Pink Panther, Bill and Ted, Robocop, and Terminator.

Why exactly is there a few to join ma membership dues keep it going but why don't they collect the dues from content sales and the price of joining in should be the benefit of the content brought to ma if this happened I would expect all the content including tv shows under ma because I'm still surprised how many people don't know about it though ma banners and ad's SHOULD be everywhere by now doubt that will happen until everything is under ma.

Until a few days ago I owned more Lionsgate movies than Paramount, so I would have rather had Lionsgate join than Paramount. Now Paramount has most of the Miramax catalog, I own more Paramount movies, so I think they should join. Maybe they will!

Having them accept PlayStation store movies is great, always some great deals on there for movies that people sleep on and would actually bring them a lot of business.
