Okay, I'm having an extremely frustrating issue with my Vizio PX65-G1 TV that I can't figure out, so I'm hoping someone here will know more.
![]() When playing Dolby Vision content from Netflix, the picture is unwatchable as the colors go completely wonky. It's like the picture goes negative, but instead of black and white like negative photo, it's like a coral and blue in the negative effect and is literally not watchable. I looked up a list of Dolby Vision content on Prime Video so I could test in that app and didn't get the same issue, but seems like different problem there. On one of them (Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan Season 1), I get an error saying "Something went wrong. Please try again later. For more help, go to amazon.com/videohelp." and on the other (Suspiria - 2018), it plays, but it seems VERY dark. When the video starts playing on that one, it says HDR10+ in the upper-right corner and I can hear richer sound, but the darkness can't be right. Other streaming content, DVDs, BDs, and 4K discs are all fine to my eyes, but something is clearly wrong with Dolby Vision/HDR streaming content. My online searching didn't come up with anything definitive, sadly. Anyone seen this or have any insight into how to fix?? |

I have a relatively new V-series 4K Vizio. I don't know about your "negative effect" issue, but I had to adjust picture settings (picture mode, gamma, etc.) individually for each source (disc, streaming, etc.) when I first set my TV up. Streamed content on Netflix and Prime Video also looked too dark initially, so I had to adjust gamma settings for both to get the desired brightness level. I checked and Suspiria looks fine for me on Prime. I also checked Ratched, a Dolby Vision title, on Netflix, and it looks excellent.

I've had intermittent issues with my PQ65 with Dolby Vision content. Initially I thought it was only with UHD discs through my Oppo 203 player, but it also does it via streaming content. It basically displays the content in a heavy pink hue. The picture is "there" but looks like it's washed over in a layer of Pepto Bismol.

When watching *any* DV-flagged content (disc and/or streaming), the TV enters into a "Dolby Vision" video setting profile which seems to introduce the pink video issue I've detailed above. All one needs to do to resolve it is toggle through the video modes (sports, calibrated, calibrated dark, video game, etc.) and when you loop back to the mode that exhibited the pink issue, it should be gone! I stumbled upon this the other day after digging through an old Reddit thread and lo and behold someone mentioned this so I tried it and it worked! ![]() |
