Okay, for a guy that has done conventions for the last 11 years, but never this one, any tips? Cause it seems so hard to plan for. I watched the 2017 one for reference.
If I am correct, tickets went on sale May 2016. So you'd have to buy a ticket nearly a year in advance. Book a hotel and a flight as well. Then they didn't start announcing the GOOD guests until like 6 weeks before the show. Gellar, Hayden, Felicity and other ROGUE guests, etc... So if you get your tix a year early, have a room and flight all planned up and money saved....but then the guests stink, you're kind of screwed no??? I am planning on this one in small hopes that either Daisy Ridley or Emilia Clarke will be a guest, maybe the Mouse forces them to appear there. I mean, this entire con seems like a crap shoot. Or am I wrong? |

Skipping a year was probably worth it for Disney, financially and timing. |

Some of the Celebration peeps are so entitled. The ones mostly out west or in Florida.
If anyone is in the group on Facebook, there are a good portion of dopes just going on and on about how we will all be murdered in Chicago, or how the weather is so bad no con can happen(despite them happening every spring for the last 12 years I've done conventions), etc, etc... Who knew Star Wars fans were such entitled brats? |

On the topic of Chicago... I've been visiting it for the last 6 years annually to see a Blackhawks game and I have never felt unsafe. We walk more than 20km a day in the city sticking to mainly what I assume is the downtown core with walks ranging from E. Walton St down Michigan Ave to past Roosevelt Rd out by Solider Field and as far west as Canal St... we even walk down Madison out to the Unite Centre from Michigan Ave when the weather is nice. I have been to McCormick Place before so I don't know if things getting any dodger that south. I've been to countless "world class" cities all over the world and none of them have anything on Chicago as far as I'm concerned. Now I live just outside of Toronto and that is tops in my books, but that may just be my Canadian bias

I also like the people saying there isn't anything else to do like there is in Orlando. ![]() |
