Last year I watched 30 Universal horror films and did a Hammer movie marathon (48 movies). It was a pretty intense ride (i'd say there were around 20 movies or so I hadn't seen). I doubt i'll go as big this year but I did buy the two Universal horror box sets from Scream factory (I already watched last year 3 out of the 8 movies but i'm aiming to watch the rest in October). I watched the original Addams Family show 2 years ago and had a blast too. Last year I watched season one of the Munsters and this September i've already started season 2.

My wife and I also usually host every October a horror movie night every Saturdays of the month with different themes (we invite a bunch of friends over and my wife makes some awesome halloween cakes). This year i'm only planning two so far, one of them a Kid friendly one (Addams Family, The witches, Casper and Hocus Pocus) and also a classic comedy horror night with the Cary Grant movie Arsenic and the old Lace, Bob Hope's The cat and the canary and Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein.

We also just watched the original IT mini series and are planning to watch again this week the 2017 movie and then go see this weekend chapter 2.
I'm sure i'll come up with a whole lot of other great movies in the coming month too.

the real challenge for people should be watching 31 brand new to you horror movies.

if you try that, it does get harder each year. and sometimes you'll run into some garbage. but what horror fan hasn't seen their share of garbage?

1. Horror Of Dracula

The first Hammer Dracula is probably the best of all their Dracula films. You get Christopher Lee and Peter Cushing teaming up in one of the best atmospheres of any of the Hammer films. This film to me represents the beginning of the successful passing of the torch from Universal to Hammer for monster movies. I love Christopher Lee as Dracula and while it's hard to pick an all time favorite Dracula actor, he is a top contender. I will definitely be checking out more Hammer, Dracula and monster movies over the next two months.

The premise was promising and the 1st half was OK, but rather slow... it was the 2nd half that just did not register with me, it was too predictable and too repeating for me!
