Just beat it yesterday and I love it!! the ending is what changed my entire opinion about the game. The very ending is really unexpected. It ends on a perfect note.

It's not for Wii, but if you have access to X-Box Live Arcade, pick up Shadow Complex. It's basically Metroid. It's well worth the money.

it is nothing like the prime games. No scanning, no getting lost in large 3d world. it more fast base shooting adventure game. as a metroid game I thought it was poor compaired to prime or the masterpiece that it is super metroid. but as a game overall it was decent and is well worth $11

I finally got around to playing this. I am not a fan of fps games, but made my way through Prime 1 & 2 because they were Metroid. I've barely started with Prime 3, but who knows when I'll get to that.
I was really excited when I first heard about this, and I had played the intro a few times before (which I wasn't overly impressed with). In my opinion, the game missed out on being great. The decision to not use the analog stick was poor. It would have made control so much more fluid, and made the morph ball transition much easier. The insistence on using the wii sensor bar really hamstrung the game as well. Switching from third person to first person by completely changing the orientation of the controller did not work well. Once the game recognizes the switch (after a delay) then you have to orient yourself with where your cursor is. All the while you are getting attacked. This choices compounds the previous poor choice of not using the analog stick. If the nunchcuk had been incorporated, then the player could actually move while in first person and not just be a statue for enemies to attack. The game would have been borderline great if it had stuck with a 3rd person view throughout it's entirety. The other thing holding the game back is of course the story and the upgrade situation. The idiocy of not using the full potential of Samus' suit is just awful and lacking of any rational thought. I finished the game last night, but did not bother to get all the items. I was only at 58% when I finished, but that was more than enough for me. I'm still waiting for a truly great Metroid update with no first person. |
