Nice! The 2005 Tumbler, though very different, is my top pick. Got to love how they kept 50s style fins in vogue for so long.

Did everyone have a good Free Comic Book Day last weekend?
I hit up 2 stores, saved a bundle on many books, and got to hang out with many of my favorite ppl at the stores. My main store was 35% off nearly all items. Next store had 1/2 price on all back issues (except for featured golden/silver agers), 20% of other stuff, and many X-Men trades and HCs for half price. |

I'm a longtime comic reader, but I've never been very interested in superheroes. I started with Marvel's G.I. Joe and Transformers, but by the late '80s, I was mostly reading titles from independent comic companies like Comico and Dark Horse.
A superhero comic has to be really exceptional to hold my attention. The recent Batwoman run by Greg Rucka and J.H. Williams is a good example. In the '80s, my favorites were Mage and Grendel, both written (and sometimes illustrated, in the case of Grendel) by Matt Wagner. Mage had an incredibly cinematic approach, and Grendel often experimented with the comics medium. My current favorite ongoing series is Locke & Key by Joe Hill and Gabriel Rodriguez. The art is amazing, and the story is great as well. Everyone who enjoys quality comics should be reading this. It isn't for younger readers, however. |

Before House of M, Grant Morrison and Frank Quietly had a nice run prior to all of that stuff under the New X-Men banner, and then Joss Whedon picked up after him with Astonishing X-Men. It's been a while since I've read the Morrison trades, but I think they should be fairly easy to get into and are kind of a fresh start from decades of continuity. Same with the House of M/Messiah stuff. Good luck! |

There is also the Green Lantern secret origins and Green Lantern Rebirth. For the Flash they had just started a new series a little while ago you could still pick those up at most comic book stores but In September they will relaunch all of there books so might just wait tell then.

Yea, I've been keeping up on Flashpoint, Booster Gold, and a few of the tie-ins. Like you said, some of them are pretty boring so far.

i haven't been a comic buyer for 17 or 18 years but i've kept tabs just reading videogame sites or even news headlines. On a suggestion i checked out the newest Aquaman series. wow. Incredible what they've done with that character. This is one of my favorite books of all time. I just bought all 10 issues to catch up.
