Not out of the box. Your options are: i) applying an enhanced firmware update (which many forum members here advise against), ii) using a OneForAll remote that has a DVD button to input codes, or iii) buying a modified region free player.

I found the info on this page. Keep in mind that the poster is using a European model, so it may not be an apples-to-apples scenario, even though the model number is the same, so this will be a gamble on your part. If you do decide to order a remote, let us know if this hack works for you.

Yes but that does not make your player BD region free. You can take your Panny player to your local authorized Panny service center and they should make it region free(DVD)free of charge while you wait.

So a panasonic service would make it play just dvd's region free but not blu-ray?

Well at least they should. If you wan't to watch region B Blu-ray flicks you need to buy a mod kit or a modded player(expensive). Or then you can try the enhanced firmware update and pay to that jerk. I guess it's cheap if you don't plan to update your device. But be aware that he might not reply to your messages and if I'm correct someone mentioned he no longer accepts requests. As you live in the US and already own the BDT110 I'd just buy a region B BD75 since you're a panny guy. That's exactly what I did. It's quite cheap and I believe US customers don't even have to pay VAT.

Brain fart on my part. You're right: the hack covers DVDs, but not Blu-rays.

As for the other part: that's news to me. I wasn't aware that the service center was obligated to do anything, especially updating the region code setting.

Haven't tried it myself yet..perhaps I should. But that's what I've read somewhere. Doesn't hurt to ask..I hope.

^ The firmware is supposed to be programmed specific to your player's unique MAC Address. That's what I've read anyway. Whether that's true or not, I don't know, and I don't have the firmware to test it.

I strongly wouldn't recommend it either, because it may cause technical malfunctions in the player's circuitry. It's best to leave it alone, and continue using it the way it was intended.

I went the cheapo-region free way, and bought a 78 dollar Seiki BD player from Wal-Mart Canada:

It converts PAL, which is even better.

I have a Panasonic DMP-BDT110 and it can play Region-B discs by doing a few different tricks. It won't play any PAL or 1080/50i content without modified firmware however. Here's the 3 methods that I've discovered so far:

Method 1 -

- Insert a disc and wait for the "Wrong Region" screen to appear
- Press the "Pop-Up Menu" button
- Disc should boot to the discs main menu or start playing the movie

Method 2 -

- Insert a disc and wait for the "Wrong Region" screen to appear
- Press Stop
- Press the "Pop-Up Menu" button (You may have to press this a few times)
- Disc should boot to the discs main menu or start playing the movie

Method 3 -

- Insert a disc and wait for the "Wrong Region" screen to appear
- Press Stop
- Press 1 and the number "1" should start blinking in the upper right corner. Press the "OK" button while 1 is blinking. You may have to try this a few times, as it usually doesn't work the first time. Try pressing OK on the first or second blink and it should work.
- Disc should boot to the discs main menu or start playing the movie

Hey all! Just wanted to thank the poster above for the advice on making my Region A Panasonic DMP-BD655, at least, Region B compatible.

I was able to play my B-coded Masters of Cinema blu-ray after getting the "Sorry, your disc is incompatible" screen by following Method 2 given by HoNuts above.

I got the screen, pressed Stop, and then pressed the Pop-Up menu button. This gave me 2 options: either Playback, which did not worked, or Top Menu, which, thankfully, worked like a charm!

This works on my BDT220 as well!
Has anyone discovered how to bypass the DVD region codes on this, personally do not need it as I have an older oppo dvd player and well as the BDP 93 so I am all set, but it would be nice to have another region free DVD player as well.
