As we await news of Vilya’s tests today, I can share that we were in fact able to meet for dinner yesterday. The three hours flew by quickly as we settled into conversation like we have known each other for some time. We talked about a number of you and wishing more could have attended as the topics turned from backgrounds, family, pets, employment, college, first concerts, and no surprise, movies, technology, and home theater.

Vilya is as intelligent as I imagined, as he took me through his medical journey, impressing upon me the details and knowledge of which he has acquired of his condition and path.

I was truly humbled and inspired by how he is facing what lies in front of him, as he is not backing down from anything or what he may find out today. He has handled what life has thrown him with grace and bravery, while still maintaining a spark in his eyes.

Perspective is something we all possess, and sometimes it is difficult to change or alter. It was clear however that mine has changed as my head the pillow last night because of spending time with our friend.

We said goodbye with a hug and a promise to stay in touch.

By the way, his first concert was Helen Reddy…..but I didn’t hold it against him.

Ahhhh, that is fantastic gotmule. So pleased you both got that opportunity and it’s boosted my mood for sure.

Vilya is a good man (as are you) and he is in my thoughts.

When loading a disc player becomes too much work.

I just do a Dance on my way to loading up a disc and that’s me sorted for the day!

Well if that is all the exercise you are getting you will Blow Up like a Balloon. Even I a Streamer that only uses the Remote to play any Movie or TV Show, Power Walks 3 Miles Daily. Still loading Discs might be fine if you have a simple setup, but if you have a Dedicated Home Theater Projection Room with rack mounted equipment might be a problem going from your Shelf location back and forth loading the Player on the Rack!

You guys with High End Projection Rooms, Jaremy from Techthusiasm has a better Idea!

Nah, I would wager most disc people use disc because of A/V quality and true media ownership. We have covered this subject numerous times. Some have posted how they organized their disc so retrieving a disc and inserting into a player should be a very trivial task.

Most of my BD and UHD BD do reside on a NAS but they are there for other reasons than convince. Been playing content from a HDD for more than 22 years. Almost purchased a Roku HD1000 (here) many years ago but did not because I had the MIT's and two D-VHS D-Theater that could do the same. Came close with some other players like Popcorn Hour and Dune.

I highly doubt anyone has a setup that makes it difficult to load a disc.

I have a dedicated home theater. Gear is outside the room and discs are near by.

When you watch a movie from start to finish taking a minute to set it up isn't a problem.

Disagree. I have built an assault course which takes around an hour. I have stacked my discs like a domino rally and I must avoid tripping over all them. I then have wires exposed and blocking my path like a jungle. I just cut through them.
I then have old laserdiscs suspended from a height that I must avoid lest they slice my neck off with the well designed release mechanism.
If I succeed up until that point, I must navigate the floor in the dark, the twist is that stepping on one of the many scattered pizza boxes strategically placed around me, sets off an alarm which in turn, locks my home theatre room. The key is in the cellar, but there are strange happenings down there.
It’s a tightrope every day mate. The tension just to know if I can make it to the HT room is nerve wracking.

It appears that you have too much time on your hands now (unless you've found new work).

Saw some other recent post by you so assume your covid ordeal was not too severe. Status?

My sister-in-law still has very little taste, sure hope it returns to normal before too long.

I forgot to mention that - but yeah, all is good again. My taste and smell started to come back on the 5th day and I went back to work on the 11th day, which was one week ago today. I have a very minor cough that comes and goes due to how cold and dry it has been the last few days. The crazy part is that one of my sisters and my mom also ended up getting covid 1-2 days after I did, so something was definitely in the air around here. They recovered, as well. We all have our shots, boosters, and even seasonal shots - I figured that's why we just had mild symptoms.

I watched Operation Fortune last night in "AMC Laser" and the movie was great. Definitely getting the 4K disc. It's a shame it will bomb since there was maybe 10-20 people at my screening in one of the smaller auditoriums.

I've already set up my theatrical calendar for March - last night was Operation Fortune, next week is 65, the week after is Shazam 2, the week after that is John Wick 4, and the final weekend of March will be Dungeons and Dragons.

This opened on a small screen at the local Regal. I'll still be seeing it this weekend.

I've yet to see Scream 5 and that's on P+.

Creed 3 opened this weekend but I might also skip that one and wait for the 4K disc release.

You may be able to find the Scream 5 UHD BD at a good price now since it's been out for almost a year now.
