But but but everyone on the Star Wars pages here claim Kathleen is killing the franchise and no one wants to support the Wars anymore!

Might be the biggest let down of a convention I will ever attend.

Biggest irony, is I wanted to go cause I had faith they'd snag Emilia Clarke to do her first, I believe, convention minus SDCC, and then I put my resources into it, and then they give us a garbage celeb line up, and while I was able to trade my 5 day pass for a Friday only, I unwisely bought a few things a few weeks back, and was stuck going to this dumb convention....

And then some con a month later announces they got Emilia, and me with little funds to make a trip to Texas, am left to watch nearly all her stuff sell out right away.

I actually had to deactivate my Facebook page, cause it was just a constant stream of tags and IMs asking me if I was going to meet her.

What can I say, meeting Freddie Prinze Jr is not on the same level as Emilia. Sigh.

Live and learn I guess.

I hear ya, bud. Once they announced that Lyte program to sell your tickets back, I took advantage of it and immediately sold my 5 day ticket back to them because I didn't want to deal with eBay.

I honestly didn't think they would snag Emilia though because the convention is happening the same weekend as the premiere of GoT Season 8. But her announcement for the con in Houston of all places caught everyone off guard! I'm not surprised she sold out so quickly...all that's left is a group photo with Nathalie and her solo photo for Sunday. They did say they will release limited autograph tickets at the show for her, but who knows how many that will be.

I just figured everyone and their mother is building Celebration up as a convention so big, it is just under SDCC and NYCC in scope, and they couldn't even land one new, BIG name. Damn near all their 'biggish' names were at their last show. And minus Felicity Jones and Sarah Michelle Gellar as well.

And as far as I can tell, that Houston show is only in it's third year. I just have to hope Emilia has fun and agrees to do more cons in the future.

I knew snagging her or Daisy would be a very small chance, but while I love them both, I'm a realist and can admit that both actresses are not all that great, and both will be losing their cash cows this year. I fully expect Emilia and Daisy to do more and more conventions as the years go on and their relevance dwindles.

The Houston show has been around since 2008 and up until recent years, they were steadily getting big names to show. I have no doubt Emilia will be around for other conventions, because she wants to get her charity off the ground. That's why all of her sales for the show in Houston are going towards that charity. Daisy from my understanding wants to distance herself from Star Wars after episode 9, so I think she'll only be available for private signings.

Ahh, I only saw past guests for 3 years, so just assumed. Texas has so many conventions, I get them all confused.

Nice about her charity, I didn't know that, but then...since I can't go, I'm trying NOT to read up on her being there. Like I said, I turned my Facebook page off to stop getting all the alerts of people telling me about it.

I just think, I guess only basing it off that one other film Daisy has released since she became Rey, her acting isn't stellar enough for her to be this big draw for private signings. Maybe she won't do Celebrations, but I could see her doing some bigger name comic cons out there. Kind of like John did last year.

Wish I had the opportunity to go. I'll be watching the live streams when they start. I wonder when and where the next one is.

Sitting at home, and watching the utter failure of this convention happen...until I have to live through the hell tomorrow.

Apparently they cant get any registers to work in the store, so everyone is going to the app, and that broke at 9:30am as well, so basically any merchandise will have to be had for big bucks on eBay.

I haven't heard any horror stories from the autograph area just yet, which is what 90% of my day will be, so maybe I won't be in total hell.

Oh wait, they moved some times around so I have FOUR photo ops and TWO autographs in the first hour alone. I am a 13-year convention vet, but unsure even I can swing that.
If I miss anything due to their issues, it will either be refunds or trouble.

My friend got in late and all reports are the actual show floor is fine, graphs and ops are going great.

So, I should be fine on that front. It should help that a third of the con will be at the Episode 9 panel during my opening hour of hell, so maybe the lines will be a breeze?

Sounds like they never got the store working...checking out ONE person per every five minutes is kind of shameful. Today is the age of the internet, just tale pre-orders and have everyone pick up their stuff if you cant handle it day of I say.

Celebration is a little unique with respect to SDCC and NYCC in that it is the largest convention dedicated to one thing, Star Wars. People have their various reasons for attending Celebration: Autographs, Panels, exclusive merchandise, cosplay and just wanting the chance to hang out with other individuals that love Star Wars as much as themselves.

Now with respect to autographing guests, I do have to admit it was quite lackluster (even Mark Hamil did not attend!). Though they did have some guests that don't come to Celebration that often, i.e. Paul Bettany. They also did snag Warwick Davis, who hadn't signed since Celebration in 2012. The Celebration in 2017 had a lot more big name guests and also some smaller guests that don't attend that often, i.e. Dennis Lawson.

Hopefully they will do a better job next year.
